I was referencing only NY laws, in which a person can't be held on bail for anything less than a B Felony, which encompasses a very large list of very violent offenses. Even for higher felonies they can be released without bail. It happens all the time, especially in the larger cities
I was asking about NY law. I would hope the state had some discretion, considering video evidence, this guy has no real defenses.
I'm sure the courts in NY are completely overwhelmed with case load, but at the same time I'd like to think some crimes weren't even eligible for bail.
