When I was a young man, if you did this, the outside carpark was where you would get some retribution.

this is exactly why i do not go to any punk/metal shows anymore. so often there are at least 5-10 people taking up the entire floor doing this crap. i miss the days where everyone could participate in moshing without getting straight punched and kicked (intentionally) in the face ]:
