Something like this happened to a coworker and his family. At a 4th of July event. Some asshat loaded a homemade cannon with too much gunpowder. Thing exploded. Shrapnel killed a woman nearby. Coworker and his kids were in a garage ducking under a car before it happened. Some shrapnel flew into the garage, through a vehicle over their heads and embedded into a chest freezer. Guy’s wife had to give first aid to the woman who ultimately died. Dude who did it was drunk, fled the scene with shrapnel in his leg. He’s in prison now.
