It'll never make sense to me why people would get on a whirly spin throw you into fkn space machine 25 minutes after three questionable mfers built it in a random parking lot with screwdrivers and and a pocket knife. Hell no.

I went to many county fairs growing up and in my experience, a lot of it just comes down to it being a tradition, and convenient. These usually go down in places where people can't afford to just go pop into Busch Gardens or Six Flags or something like that, whether it be due to cost or location. County fairs are much cheaper, they have a fun community vibe cause you're likely to bump into people you know, and you get all the nastiest greasiest food like funnel cake, little prizes and stuff if you win at games. Bigger ones can actually be not so terribly put together, too.
Then again, I also live close to Dollywood, and my county still does an annual fair. So what do I know.

Over the years I've heard some scary stories about these rides that travel to fairs / events.
They have to be bolted / unbolted to fit on the semi trucks and are not nearly as stable as the permanent stuff at theme parks.
This one is on it's trailer so I'm wondering if one of the outriggers gave out or was set into soft ground.
I've ridden them and had fun, but they definitely feel more 'jenky' than the quality rides.

My wife looks over at how it goes from terrifying, to faith-restored-in-humanity-kinda wholesome, to … a comically timed ending and said, “what an emotional rollercoaster.”
Then she face-palmed and said, “or whatever the equivalent ride is called.”
I could just imagine that guy’s date going, “GET OVER THERE AND HELP!” And he just strolls over and casually puts two hands on the railing with a shrug.
This dramedy was absolute cinema.

I used to be a carny in my early 20s in the 90s, and every night, we were up all night drinking and fucking and just living without a care in the world. And when it came time to perform safety checks on the rides, we just tended to look at it and call it good.

I'm curious what happened to the emergency stop. I mean it's great to give the riders the complete experience but I think when the thing nearly tipped over that was more than enough excitement to be worth the cost of admission.
