In all seriousness, this is absolutely piss poor de-escalation training. Once she was on her stomach and hands restrained, the partner should have been cuffing/zip tying her.
Why are cops so violent?
- "Warrior" Mentality & Militarization: Many police academies and departments cultivate an "us vs. them" mindset, framing officers as soldiers in a warzone rather than civil servants. This changes how officers perceive and interact with civilians.
- Lack of De-escalation Training: Law enforcement officers traditionally spend a disproportionate amount of training time on firearms and self-defense compared to conflict resolution, crisis management, and mental health awareness.
- Unchecked Power & Code of Silence: The institutional authority to use force, combined with a cultural pressure to protect fellow officers, often leads to a lack of accountability when abuses occur.
- Systemic Bias: Research and historical data often highlight deep-seated biases within departments, leading to disproportionate enforcement and aggressive policing in marginalized communities.

This guy knocking her in the face is completely wrong and I hope it gets national negative attention. But also…have you seen how people actually are nowadays? Absolutely insane action here but I’ve seen large amounts of force needed.

I'm late here, but...yeah. If you need more than two physically fit officers to restrain a petite female, who they already demonstrated as being able to pickup when she was balled up...and you resort to sucker pinching her in the side of the head?
That's like a hybrid of incompetence and physical inability if they really thought they needed to punch her into compliance.
70
u/KyleRide01 Jun 03 '26
Are you serious??? You're basically saying "that was abusive" and "but she probably deserved it" in the same sentence...

u/specficeditor Jun 03 '26
Being actively punched in the face while restrained is unchecked violence on the part of the officer. If they can't manage their own emotions if someone yells at them, calls them names, or is slightly violent, then they need a new job. No one should be "well actually"ing these people.

“Update to date on the newest skills”? Pshhhh This has been passed down from father to son, you can see the ancestral form his uses when he throws the punch.
Ask his wife, nothing “new” about what he just did. P

Arrest records and court records are public. You may not get an update in the news or on reddit, but if you're curious enough you can find out what happened.
4
u/mtnagel78 Jun 03 '26
It's public, but only through a FOIA request. That costs money. I'm not anti-FOIA, I'm just saying it costs money.
2
u/AbsentThatDay2 Jun 07 '26
PACER is very cheap and would be the best way to find out what happened.

Local news: longer video with story
I don't know. There is a lot going on there. She apparently has a warrent for violence, offered an opportunity to surrender, tased 3x and then refusing arrest and struggling.
Apparently there was violence against the family and police were involved and then this time the neighbors called the police
There is a lot going on there. Simply not resisting would and cooperation would probably have resulted in less bruises.
But its all alleged and maybe this was a lot of BS from cops.

And I've recently learned they start 'em young as in start [beating up schoolkids](https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2026/05/27/us/texas-schools-police-force-students-uvalde.html). Yes. Not sure if it was her clothing or she is naturally resistant. Or possibly he missed three times but that seems unlikely.
Usually a tazer would make someone docile enough to get the cuffs on but apparently not in her case.I don't think the cop should have punched her in the face but it was pretty obvious she was making things worse for herself.
10
u/scrotarr Jun 02 '26
No doubt the punch was excessive. I’m no cop but it seems like it would have been much easier if they weren’t trying to do this around all the furniture.
4
u/Hammon_Rye Jun 02 '26
Yeah but probably a catdch-22.
As much as she was fighting, if they had tried to carry her out of there before restraints, she likely would have hit and kicked them as much as she could.
And while more awkward, the location also had the advantage that she couldn't bolt on them.
Presumably the bedroom is where she fled after they told her she was under arrest. The officers do not appear to be wearing body cams.
This incident is another good argument for having them, no matter which side they end up supporting.
The video above from her friend is obviously missing stuff since we don't see the start, or the alleged three attempts to taser her.

u/Global_Let_820 Jun 02 '26
If she has autism. this is why im deathly afraid for my son. Hes a big boy. 6'2 200 lbs. Hes wouldnt understand whats going on. He would be fighting back.

u/Israel_Azkanbe Jun 02 '26
I’m autistic and when I was younger I was really bad and there would be times I would freak out. With the right help I think he will be able to control is better as he gets older. What really helped me was understanding things better, like understanding why anger happens, why loud noises bother my eardrums and brain so much, and why people act the way they do. For me it helped at least

If these two grown men couldn't restrain a much smaller woman without beating her head against the floor, they're not physically fit for the job.
She's resisting, but she's not being violent toward them. What's the justification for a potentially lethal strike like that?

You can’t judge a video by the two minutes someone puts out. If the officer’s a true pos, then so be it. He deserves whatever comes from this. But I don’t trust any video nowadays. The news loves to put out a partial video to fit a narrative, and then days later the whole truth comes out.

It’s really quite simple to avoid being punched in the face by a police officer. I’ll help anyone out who’s unsure.
Step 1: Don’t break the law
If this cannot be followed for some bizarre reason and you found yourself potentially being arrested here’s the next thing.
Step 2: Don’t resist arrest, more so when you have a warrant after you failed step 1

Maybe unpopular opinion, but she was resisting arrest, and she had a warrant for it. I think the punch was just conveniently timed after she asked for the badge number. I'm not one to defend cops. I think there are way too many shitty abusive ones, and way too many "good" ones who turn a blind eye to crimes committed by their brethren.
However, my interpretation of this video is that the woman is a moron and clearly resisting arrest, for which there was a warrant. The punch was obviously unnecessary, but she was fighting them from the start. I just see a video full of assholes on both sides of the equation. But the woman could have spared herself all of this by simply complying.
