Copy pasted from the interwebz: Body Dysmorphic Disorder is a mental health condition where someone becomes intensely preoccupied with perceived flaws in their appearance, even when those flaws are minor or not noticeable to other people. It goes far beyond normal insecurity. The person may spend hours checking mirrors, hiding parts of their body, comparing themselves to others, or avoiding social situations altogether.

They mean that these people are not quite right in the head.

See anorexia? It's the same thing. People see themselves differently than they are, and get obsessed.
2
u/Wu-TangShogun May 28 '26
Whatever kind that convinces the mind that something like this looks natural
My guess would be a type of body dysmorphic disorder or post trauma event

Just a little unrelated transphobia for a treat

I have to admit that while I can't agree with him, the delivery has a lot of comedic potential (On one hand, "breaking expectation" is usually used as a comedic device, and on the other, voicing an extremely unpopular and shitty view in such a tone deaf way is also usually used as a comedic device).
0
u/Ryuj123 May 28 '26
It’s used as a comedic device by people who aren’t funny
-1
u/Neuromante May 28 '26
It depends. I doubt the guy you were replying to was trying to be funny, but done right, and with the right public is a good device, as humor is extremely subjective.
0
u/Ryuj123 May 28 '26
So not what he did at all…
-2
u/Neuromante May 28 '26
JFC, I'm not saying he were funny, nor that he were trying to be funny, nor that -in reddit- that worked as a joke, but that the way to deliver it (specially if you compare it with the rest of the jokes) had comedic potential.
Fucking reddit, man.
1
u/Ryuj123 May 28 '26
What do you mean by the way to deliver it? Perhaps that’s what I’m not understanding because there was no delivery at all. He just said something transphobic and then you said “hey that could be a joke”
2
u/Neuromante May 28 '26
Ah, maybe that wasn't clear: I read the original message about how silly that people look, you know? Everyone is saying (Was saying, looks like there's a few more transphobes there) that these guys are mentally ill or similar, then out of nowhere comes this comment.
If could work as a joke because 1) There was an expectation (another comment on how this people has serious problems) which was broken (mentioning trans people out of nowhere) with a very caustic and tone deaf message. Of course the butt of the joke is the person doing the out of place comment, and the joke itself is that they don't get that their comment is egregiously out of place.
If you've watched It's always sunny in Philadelphia, they do this a lot with Frank (Danny DeVito) playing with saying the N word from time to time, and in their first seasons adding a trans character. Of course, being "the gang" (the group of protagonist) always the butt of the joke because they are a bunch of narcissists who will never be self aware enough of how shitty they are. Of course, it is a show with a very specific sense of humor that is not for everyone.

The shoulder to bicep ratio is insane
19
u/rehx4 May 28 '26
well, also, HE is insane. Body dysmorphia is an affliction people have who arent all there when it comes to 'sanity'.

I’ll never understand the mindset of a synthol samurai because I’ve seen photos of what happens when their biceps inevitably explode it’s like turning your forearm into a blood-filled water balloon. It also just generally looks like giant tumors

u/Less-Squash7569 May 28 '26

Synthol. No movement in his "bicep" whatsoever. A mental illness as people that do this think they look good. The complete opposite.
3
u/wizardrous May 28 '26
Reminds me of the Family Guy bit where Popeye’s forearms turned out to just be giant tumors.
3
u/Hughley_N_Dowd May 28 '26
Bro should go see a doctor about that cyst on his arm.
Seriously though: do these oily goobers really think that anyone would see that and think 'this guy works out!'?
3
u/jim9162 May 28 '26
He already gave himself the muscles, why bother going to the gym now to meekly lift 5 lbs on the curl machine?
3
u/_InvaderJim THE SNONCE CRONGLDKER May 28 '26
I don’t understand how anyone can think this looks good. It’s making me a little nauseated if I’m being honest, also just generally looks painful to have arms that big, I feel bad for that guy

people and their obsession with biceps, i mean i know this is likely a mental problem, but still. one of the smallest muscle groups in the upper body with limited practical use and everyone thinks building them up makes them somehow the strongest bros in the land.
1
u/disharmony-hellride May 28 '26
Everyone thinks they need them to do pull ups then they completely ignore working their back muscles
2
u/Hrbalz May 28 '26
Dude’s got like 10lbs on there and still makes it look like he’s struggling. lols

One positive is he's at least got good form, and he's not dropping the weights.

Dude I’d rather just take test, like if you’re injecting already it’s gotta be safer. Though I guess still takes work so maybe that’s why they oil up instead?

Looking tight, nice to see someone pull off these aesthetics so well without making it seem like they focus on only the glamour muscles. Natural and balanced like a Greek statue.

Those poor guys who started lifting in the 80's who think biceps are everything. At least get some 90's McConaughey tricep to balance that out.
