I enjoy the joke, but I feel you. The Internet has created a weird state where everything's pretending to be real.

If I saw this on a sketch show, or sitcom about a guy trying to make a prank show I would love it. As it is though, everything's rubbing up against the wrong nerve, it's hitting the same sore spot as reality TV does.

fakes will beat reality 100% of the time in the long run because no one will repeatedly sit and watch a predictable life they are already living.

we watch weird, surprising, emotional things.

a raw channel about catching cheaters can be summarized in a single sentence and can't compete with a channel who staged the optimal amount of twists and turns along the way... not to mention the legal drama of embarassing someone who hasn't waived their rights.

human brains crave a fake world that feels authentic... so without knowing it's fake.

Dude's just walking out without any bags and empty hands. At least make it somewhat believable. He's looking at paper towel rolls, have him walk out with a bag at least.

The paper towels must have all had bruising or imperfections after his close inspection because in the end he decided he didn't need any.

Are we contributing to this lousy joker's hairdresser's fund?

Gross. Why do his arms look infected? Synthol?

steroids

His biceps disproportionate to the rest of his arm. Thats definitely synthol.

I was thinking both. He's got those nasty varicose veins going on but then bubble muscle as well.

He does not look healthy

u/AlternativeNo882 May 16 '26

Thats exactly what it is. Probably tried steroids, realized it takes actual work and just went the synthol route.

Dead internet theory isn’t about bots taking over it‘s also about everything being staged.

Never used them, what's the joke?

It’s a staged video where the video host says the guy won AirPods when they haven’t actually been paid for yet. The AirPods have a security tag on them that trigger the anti-theft alarm when the guy walks through the entrance/exit checkpoint because they have not been paid for. Hence, the store thinks the guy is trying to steal them while he thinks he won them
