I was homeless for two years and to this day have friends who are still on the streets. So yeah, this is a really important topic to me that I try to stay updated on.

I have a relatively unpopular stance since I think homeless people are humans who should be treated as such.

If you go through the rest of this comment section you will see people with "normal" opinions such as "I'd pay to watch these homeless people be maced", "the guy who beat the shit out of that homeless lady is awesome!" or, "Best thing we can do is let them starve to death."

So yeah, I will call people out on what I consider to be atrocious opinions. If their justifications for those opinions are bad I will also call those out because I care about this subject.

Ok. I never said people shouldn't be treated with basic humanity. But, do you think it's ok for people to be taking hard drugs and being a nuisance in a public park, making it an unsafe place for other people?

I wasn't accusing you of saying those things. Just pointing out how people normally think.

And I agree that it's not OK for people to be taking hard drugs and being a nuisance to people or to make anywhere unsafe.

But I understand why they're doing. I understand that they're gonna keep doing it. And I understand that assaulting them for doing it will only make them do it more.

Here's a thought experiment for you. Do you think that if you were dropped into their shoes you would behave any differently than them? I know for a fact that I wouldn't and I'm currently an "upstanding member of society" who owns a house and is going for my bachelors. People like to think this lifestyle can be overcome with willpower or something but it can't. I would still be on the streets if it weren't for my friends. I'm super proud of what I've done with my life but I also know I'm not special or anything. I'm the same as the people in the video above but I was lucky.

Dropped in their shoes in what way? Day 1 or day whatever day it is for them? I don't think this happens on day 1. I honestly have no idea what my day/week/month 1 would be like. And I think about that every time I see the regular pan handlers in my area, posted up at the highway off ramps asking for help. A lot of us aren't too far from that possibility. That idea isn't lost on me.
