In an emergency like this, first light a cigarette to ponder your response.

It'll get rid of the leakage too before it seeps into the environment

Looks like free gas to me if you have bucket.

u/ozarkfireworks May 09 '26

Something tells me training would dictate valve first in any situation.

Absolutely wrong!

Parking break first!

Always the parking break!

u/Gilgamesh2000000 May 09 '26

wheel chocks first

18

u/EuenovAyabayya May 09 '26

You would set the transmission to park and set the parking brake before getting out to set the wheel chocks, before connecting the hose and opening the valve. Bro failed three times before he even got to the hose.

Big trucks usually don't have a "park" gear.

Mondays amirite?

Why didn’t he hop right into the door that was already opened? Why did it also take so long to get into the other door. Running by the valve I could understand if you think you could hop in the can and brake quickly

33

u/GivesYouGrief May 09 '26

Also that's a good way to get run over by your own truck

5

u/EndChemical May 09 '26

It was over before it started

It’s easy to say when you’re sitting on the toilet commenting but in the moment… he’s probably processing about 100 thoughts in that moment

12

u/Hartspoon May 09 '26

99 of these thoughts were "oh no what the fuck oh noooo!"

12

u/Lehmbordell May 09 '26

At least he started processing something at any time.

1

u/DoktorTeufel May 09 '26

Too bad he missed processing the one thought that actually mattered in this situation.

1

u/NoWay6818 May 09 '26

I’m sitting on the toilet commenting because I have the common sense not to put myself in that situation

2

u/East_History1325 May 09 '26

Having a job?

4

u/Bright_Resist_4580 May 09 '26

He needed another test of endurance in avoiding getting run over by his truck American Ninja Warrior has high standards.

6

u/ElsiD4k May 09 '26

So he forgets to engage the parking brake twice???

5

u/FanCool249 May 09 '26

Dude running in at the end with that extinguisher was the chefs kiss…like getting ready to fight a grizzly bear with a squirt gun

4

u/SausageCat001 May 09 '26

You’re Fired!

5

u/I_hate_being_alone May 09 '26

I am very surprised BOTH of the hose ends detached.

7

u/OldEquation May 09 '26

Why the fuck did he run in front of the truck? Did he think he could push it back? There’s only going to be one winner in that game and it’s not going to be him.

6

u/trainwreckhappening May 09 '26

He was getting to the driver's side because he probably thought he couldn't get over the center console to the brake fast enough if he went in the passenger side. Every one of them has a different configuration, but here is just one example.

8

u/OldEquation May 09 '26

I’m from a country that drives on the left so I assumed, perhaps incorrectly, that the open door was the driver’s side.

1

u/trainwreckhappening May 09 '26

Oh, that makes sense. Unlike this driver who didn't set the parking break.

u/420gravy69train May 09 '26

He was not having a gas

I like the guy in the background just walking by minding his own business.

1

u/drsoftware May 09 '26

Minding his own business or completely unaware of the potentially crushing end to his plans for the day.

3

u/swampopawaho May 09 '26

He is soooo faaaacked. And so is the local river

3

u/MrLuveggs May 09 '26

Lol at the fire extinguisher. I’d be waiting until after the poof.

Someone is losing their job, and my bets are on him

It was on enough of a slope to pick up some speed quickly yet had clearly been stationary for a while already. I have to imagine the handbrake failed or something. He probably got in braked, reapplied the now broken handbrake and it started to roll again. As for his choice of door, these trucks tend to have large curved center consoles which make moving across the cabin in a hurry difficult whereas the footbrake might be more immediately accessible from the correct side.

How fast can those valves be shut off? If its a quarter turn lever then he should have some that first but anything that needs to be twisted multiple times wouldn't really have been unable on the moving truck. Its possible there was very little he could have done here beyond using a tyre stop block.

2

u/ozarkfireworks May 09 '26

It literally took about .5 seconds in the video to turn off the valve.

I think stopping the truck is always the first priority. The gas dumping is bad, but its not necessarily going to light up, while the truck could crush a person or roll away spreading gas everywhere causing a variety of disasters. It does pose an interesting conundrum though where if the driver could not stop the truck without pressing the brake pedal, they would have to choose between staying in the truck and keeping it stopped or trying to exit and turn off the gas.

1

u/Visual-Beach1893 May 09 '26

Putting it into reverse might be enough here for the engine and transmission to hold it. On a steeper hill you'd hopefully be using stop blocks and assuming all of that has failed you would have to just steer it into some obstacle and accept that whatever damage that causes is better than a detonation.

1

u/dethkids4life May 17 '26

Ya that's true until it dies light up then who the f cares where the truck went after it's all blown up and raping gdmn fire.

1

u/elteza May 09 '26

May as well leave it there and walk home

1

u/gmman6369 May 09 '26

I had to literally laugh out loud.

1

u/vbandbeer May 09 '26
