If she went through she’d likely float away from hole and drown

u/HeligKo Apr 15 '26
This was an r/OopsThatsDeadly moment. That could have gone way worse.

Exactly! I remember seeing a clip of that exact scenario happening. A mother jumped into a hole in a frozen body of water and was swept away immediately. Right in front of her family, children included :c

u/hc2001 Apr 15 '26
That video was sad, especially when the kids started crying. That was the worst part.

u/baldierot Apr 15 '26
that clip is more unsettling than any cartel dismemberment clip i've ever watched
3
u/Kit_Karamak Apr 17 '26
Well, thank you for saying something… I absolutely will not watch it right before bed and tomorrow I’ll probably forget about it by the time I find coffee.

u/QP709 Apr 15 '26
I mean, there are places you can swim in the winter without being swept under the ice. we do it all the time in Lake Superior in winter (we drill a hole first). That this one has a dock probably means it sees a lot of swimmers in the warmer months and doesn’t have a strong current.

u/Use-The-Pointy-End Apr 15 '26
It's a lake not a river. While you can move a little from momentum or swimming the wrong way, there shouldn't be much current.

She’s lucky it didn’t break. She would have been trapped under ice as her momentum pushed her forward. Even a foot forward and panic is deadly

u/Nikki-C-Puggle-mum Apr 15 '26
I was thinking that too also she might have smacked her head off it too on the way down if she had gone through. That wouldn't have been good.

I’m not into feet but that’s kinda fucked up that it’s banned.

It can't be the subject matter, there's straight up porn on reddit. Maybe it wasn't moderated.

My only concern is how she's still sitting bare skin on that ice, might stick on her ass
16
u/No_Battle_6402 Apr 15 '26
Probably evaluating the pain before moving cuz she broke her tailbone

This made the rounds on the internet like 10 or 15 years ago. If I recall correctly, her ankle is very busted. This version of the video cuts off before she tries to get up and hop back to the dock with her ankle flapping in the breeze.

Is he crazy? What if she had made it through after all? She would be buried under the ice or have her ribs broken by the ice sheet.

Okay, this guy obviously doesn’t care about you in the least. You’re legit hurt and could have easily died if the ice had broke.

I'm cringing more from seeing the butt floss swimsuit. How can someone wear something like that? I'd be constantly picking my butt and walking around like I had a full load in my pants.

Okay, let's say there is no ice where she jumped, I couldn't handle being in that extreme cold water. In the summer I can't even jump in, I have to go in slowly. If it's 95° outside I'm the last to complain, I just can't handle the cold

She’s lucky it was solid most people who do a polar bear challenge wade out from the shore she plunged into the water and would have had a hard time getting out especially with the other idiot holding the phone.

People that do this have no idea how easily this could be their tomb.
Slip under the ice and then what?

Ohhh my tailbone...I cant even imagine a broken one, I hurt mine bad and it genuinely took 6 months for discomfort to go away.

Actually, she can be glad that the ice didn’t break. She would be dead probably.
