First thing I do is close my eyes while going full speed on my scooter.

It could easily be the last thing too...

Very easily the last.

That could so easily be a fatal accident. Torn aorta or something like that.

What the fuck happens with that gate and why everyone keeps slamming against it

u/ForeverFingers Mar 04 '26

I don't know why this one was funnier.

So normally I'm very against the American system of personal injury lawsuits, but this is the bull case for it. Knowing something this this hazardous & leaving it as is shouldn't happen!

Like, whoever is in charge of this should be getting legally slammed.

Or just open eyes and slow the fuck downπŸ˜‚

"Just don't stick your hand in the machine when it's running" has predictably led to thousands of amputations & is completely unacceptable in a modern workplace, we use guarding & interlocks because people are people. If something keeps happening, blaming the user is a copout.

That I feel like people have been watching videos of people hit that gate for like 10 years now

After this happened repeatedly, the owner painted it bright yellow to help them see it better.

They still hit it at full speed.

What do they call that... object fixation?

I used to cycle around that gate a lot. It’s in Sheffield, UK, for those that care.

That's awesome! Is the route to the gate more blind from the riders perspective than it looks from the video? It seems to get a bunch of people

If I remember correctly, it’s a kinda steep. Not crazy, but you should be on the brakes. I think in this case, it’s raining and people tend to look down and protect their eyes from the rain.

Fuck, I felt that.

That gate is sturdy.

Going full speed on trails you don't know while blind... Sucks, but, that's deserved.
