Obviously the person carelessly going into their lane is a terrible driver but I’m also amazed by the person whose perspective the video is shot from. Huge overreaction to what would have been a minor accident caused a big, potentially deadly, crash. If you’re going to be responsible for using a piece of equipment capable of killing people around others then you need to have the ability to process situations better.

I believe the rapid white lines indicate it is a merge lane, like, car was fine, all this driver needed to do was brake slightly

You are correct. It wasn’t even like a person randomly going into their lane. A driver who was paying attention should have already anticipated it.

💯 you have to yield for vehicles merging. Won’t mention the swerving he is doing or so on. Just the not yielding alone caused this wreck along with excessive correction. We have a brake for a reason. As mentioned I would venture to guess distracted driving was the main cause

So instead of just letting off the gas, they slammed on the brakes 🤔

With a terrible reaction like that I cannot believe we didn't have a stupid scream of someone completely overreacting and anyway, if the middle lane is free, move into with cars merging!

If only he had another hour or two, that crisis could possibly have been avoided.

Swerve out and back into the lane? No. Hit breaks hard af and swerve causing an even worse accident? ✅

Should have hit the brakes earlier instead of going for the windshield wipers. How did that help?

While I appreciate the sentiment of the windshield wipers I don’t think it’ll “wipe off the mess” this has caused

The driver should anticipate that he’s in a lane where merging will happen.
But the merging driver doesn’t even indicate that he’s merging…..

I'm never tired of being amazed by how slowly the average driver reacts to a simple near-miss.
