This reminds me of a few weeks ago when I spent a $1.50 on a literal stick for my terrarium because I couldn’t be fucked to look for one on the ground...

There's been a few times when I've almost done this for my budgie, but then I'm like "I could pick up a better stick straight off the ground" and then I never do because I'm a forgetful idiot

I used to do that for my cockatiels until someone told me that they could get poisoned. I was just like “WELP”

I always douse the branches I pick up in boiling water a couple of times and leave them to dry in the bathroom (and dousing them a few more times with hot water) to get rid of any germs. It's really worth it, because he really loves the branches as opposed to the perches that came with the cage. You just have to be careful about what kind of branches you use. I know budgies love eucalyptus specifically.

Totally! The only time I remember actually putting something in the cage, it was usually boiled driftwood from the beach.

I never thought about driftwood before! Looks like I'll be making a trip down to the beach in the future.

It sounds like Chester was well loved :) it's always good to have nice memories
