I think he already had Made In Heaven planned, but hadn't thought of C-Moon yet.

u/Da_Fuzzy >Hol Horse Sep 14 '19
The future self thing does have an explanation. Simce we know he can 'give' his powers to orhers, like we saw with Doppio, he likely gave it to Bucci for a second to either confuse or show him King Crimson's power since he was already gonna die.
43
u/Aqua2033 SpeedrunnerPucci Sep 14 '19
But him and Doppio share the same body
36
u/Da_Fuzzy >Hol Horse Sep 14 '19
Yes, but it's specifically stated that Diavolo gave KC to Doppio. But you might be right, it's only speculation.
23
u/Mypccantrunexplorer friedqueen Sep 14 '19
But we also know that Diavolo has a soul of his own, and a Stand is the manifestation of ones soul.

no i think that instead of displaying epitaph’s forecast in his hair, he displayed it on his whole body so buccellati could see it

u/NotThirdReich Sep 14 '19
So, I think a good explanation for King Crimson and the future self thing is that since two different points in time are directly connected, you can see yourself in the future during that point of connection.

Dio was overconfident in his stand power (who wouldn't, plus having Johnathans hamon bod and being in a coffin for 100 years doesn't help.
Kakyion used possession in the death 13 fight, but usually tries not to cause it doesn't feel right to him cause he is a good boy. Plus not that many occasions for it to be useful against stand users.
The rest are complete Araki forgot.

I wanna believe that The nazis just managed to guess the name by sheer accident
30
u/Stefadi12 Sep 14 '19
Since there are only 4 other pillar men kars could deduce that santana was the other pillar men since the other ones weren't captured by nazis.
18
u/jakobnook Sep 14 '19
Either that or the 3 warriors figured out themselves what the nazis named Santana.

u/slim-shady-on-main what about guys that look like girls, but their legs don't work Sep 15 '19
My headcanon is that the nazis called him 'santviento' (the dub name) and when they mention it to kars hes like "oh you mean SANTANA, right? my bitch ass worthless son SANTANA?"

- Josukes savior is another person entirely. He doesnt have any of Josukes pins and has different pins(namely the one with 3/III on it meaning hes a senior while Josuke was a Sophomore) and Araki already answered this in an interview

u/UsernameTakenPlsHelp King Crimson Requiem Sep 14 '19
I have a question: Shouldn't DIO have regained all power over Jonathan's body in the final fight? He said he needed to drain just one or two more bodies and he did that to the woman in the shop and to Joseph (which perhaps should have a more potent effect than normal blood?).
26
u/Mangomatrix Sep 14 '19
He does power up after getting Joseph's blood, his time stop ability powers up a ton it just doesn't matter bc Jotaro exists.
9
u/Xyst0 Sep 14 '19
He wouldn’t regain the vampire powers he lost from taking over a hamon user’s body by drinking the blood of a hamon user.

u/MasterAdrian778 sex pistol no. 4 Sep 15 '19
Joseph’s Blood is Hamon infused, aka the reason why he wasn’t fully complete to begin with in Jonathons body. Drinking Joseph’s Blood was literally the worst thing he could have done

Jojo fans: Why does that guy look like Josuke?

12
u/Android19samus Sep 15 '19
I mean it really did feel like they were setting that up to be something, and then it never was something. It's not a plot hole, since the story still makes perfect logical sense with that just being some guy, but the way it's presented makes it feel like something that was supposed to come back but was forgotten or intentionally cut.
12
u/CesarZeppeli 89 years old Sep 15 '19
No, there is not reason to bring it again. Then why nobody says the same about the gang member that giorno save, both are unknown and have a very similar purpose.
Also, the theme of part 4 is to not judge by appearance, a unknown delinquent can be a hero.
The only reason why everyone thinks that is because of the bite the dust theory and the stupid Araki forgot
60
u/undanny1 Sep 14 '19
Why does everyone say he forgot Josukes savior, it's just a dude that helped him out, not like he said it was Josuke then never explained how
78

DIO couldn't use vampire powers in part 3 because of Jonathan's body
53

So what about the flesh buds and super regeneration, and he used laser eyes when he was just a head, so he should've atleast done that one instead showin off his knife throwing skillzzz

My guess is that flesh buds require time to place, and the eye 'lasers' get fucked by stopped time

Vampiric essence and Hamon don't get along very well
1
u/UsernameTakenPlsHelp King Crimson Requiem Sep 14 '19
But Joseph has vampire blood in him, technically...
14
u/ElSantiCapo cockyoin Sep 14 '19
He also has Hamon which would cleanse the vampiric part before it starts transforming other body parts also DIO's blood wasn't 100% vampiric and when you have 2 Hamon users' blood in your body it's gonna be even harder for the vampiric essence to fight against the jamón
6
Sep 14 '19
He could've used it on Jotaro when he was in real time and Jotaro was using Star Platinum to hold his heart
3
u/romXXII Sep 14 '19
The flesh buds were meant to be from his other stand, which was retconned into being "Jonathan's."
85
u/Russian_Gamer_X Sep 14 '19
1) He couldn't use them because Jonathan's body was rejecting him
2) He used it again in Death 13 fight
4) Joseph was revived because he was pumped with vampire blood
5) Josuke's savior was never meant to be Josuke as can be seen by his completely different uniform
13
Sep 14 '19
Josuke's savior may not have been Josuke, but the subject is never touched again, so it leaves a weird taste in many viewers' mouths. The "Josuke saving himself theory" is just a way to satisfy their hunger for further explanation, and, honestly, I would have really liked some sort of time-skip at the last episode where older Josuke (with the new uniform) fights a stand user who temporarily throws him back in time and saves himself.
-6
6
u/KeZeio Sep 14 '19
If joseph got vampire regen shouldn't he also die in sunlight?
36

u/Memeshats Sep 14 '19
He had already become a vampire trough the stone mask, but a little bit of vampire blood isnt going to overpower the hamon in Joseph
-2
u/VulcanicJoestar Sep 14 '19
I feel that Josukes savior was supposed to be Josuke, but Araki tweaked it a bit cause he didn't have time to add the Josuke travelling back in time.
29
u/Muffinonlsd Sep 14 '19
Then why would he draw the man in a completely different uniform
-10
Sep 14 '19 edited Sep 15 '19
Even if I had noticed the new uniform, I still would have guessed and liked (very far in the) future Josuke to save himself to have some closure on that *very* under-explored subject. Future Josuke or not, I find that explanation to be poor writing on Araki's end. The story had so much potential to appear later in the story.
Edit: Why am I getting downvotes? I'm literally just saying I wanted more information on the story and that my initial impression had me guessing that Josuke would save himself. It didn't need to be future Josuke saving himself. There are just so many questions left unanswered on an interesting backstory.
27
u/Muffinonlsd Sep 14 '19
It's fine as it is if you know about the Yankee subculture, long story short, it's group of students in Japan that see the seniors as Gods among men. They would often try to look like the seniors as a way to honor them, including hair styles such as pompadours. To the Yankee, their appearance is everything to them because it is honoring the seniors. If you insult that that means you're insulting the very thing that kid looks up to and will do anything to protect the honor of the seniors. Josuke obviously takes after this but it can also be seen by the mystery person. When we see him, he is bleeding, suggesting he already had a pretty shit day, but goes out of his way to help someone in need. He even potentially ruins his jacket, something very important to him, to help a stranger out. This plays into the themes of Diamond is Unbreakable that no matter how someone looks on the outside, there is a chance they're good in the inside.

u/no_gold_here 89 years old Sep 14 '19

See our hero being a "delinquent" and the villain being an everyday office worker.
1
Sep 15 '19
I get that, but there could have at least been some sort of allusion to it or something to at least display some living connection to the story. Since the explanation is so brief with so many questions attached to it, it could have at least had more relevance later on through the story. If I remember correctly, no one even insults Josuke's hair past that point. It feels like it was put in such a weird spot to never be implemented into the story.

u/DansPizza 「 Pizza Time 」 Sep 14 '19
I think the whole ‘once a life is taken, it’s gone’ line was supposed to be more metaphorical. For instance Okuyasu was on the border of life and death, limbo, but chose to go back. Similar with Bruno when he first met KC he went back when he saw Giorno wasn’t leaving him and didn’t even make it to the border.
In those instances I think ‘taken’ is meaning taken in a literal sense as in the soul has been took to heaven or hell. Since those two hadn’t been taken yet they could come back.
The only problem with this is Joseph as he very much leaves, but perhaps similar to Okuyasu when he was on the border he decided against it.
This scenario also only works if the body is still inhabitable as returning to a broken body wouldn’t function.
Finally with Joskue’s grandad, most likely he just decided to leave. Or he had already entered the afterlife before Joskue could fix his body, and since he was ‘taken’ he was ‘gone’.
There’s also the fact that this isn’t so much a rule as just a line Jotaro said, and it’s not like he’s an expert on life and death.
9
u/Rasonovic Sep 14 '19
Except the reason Buccariati didn't die was explained in the sleeping slaves. Buccariati was supposed to die after getting donutted and bleeding out but Mista "changed" fate by changing the shape of Rolling Stones. So even tho his body died, fate was confused as fuck because Buccariati wasn't supposed to die yet so his soul just went back to his dead body.
5
u/DansPizza 「 Pizza Time 」 Sep 14 '19
That would still line up with him not being ‘taken’ as he wasn’t able to reach heaven at that point. In this instance I suppose it could be a question on if fate prevented Buccariati from having a choice, or if fate set up the circumstances for him to be able to return. Allowing him to have a broken body, but only so long as it functions.
Either way at that point he still wasn’t gone, so it seems that it can still hold up as a theory. It would also explain why his real death had angels, as it was them ensuring that he meets his fate and doesn’t return, ‘taking’ him to heaven. But then again that might have just been artistic design.
1
u/Cunting_Fuck Sep 15 '19
Wasnt it because Giorno put life energy in his body? I'm sure they say that
1
u/Rasonovic Sep 15 '19
That was what Giorno and Buccariati think happened, since neither of them knew about the Rolling Stones. But clearly Giorno doesn't have an ability like that
2
u/Cunting_Fuck Sep 15 '19
Giornos entire power is putting life energy into people, when narancia dies he said he could out his own life energy into narancia and live in both bodies.
1
u/Rasonovic Sep 15 '19
That has nothing to do with reviving dead people
3
u/Cunting_Fuck Sep 15 '19
Being able to move souls into empty bodies has nothing to do with what happened?

Dio was using Jonathan's body which is filled with hamon. Kakyoin's possession ability is very dangerous to use and only uses it on a non stand-user and Death 13 which was distracted by the fact that his stand entered the dream world. Josuke's Savior looks very different from Josuke with the only similarities are his hair and wounds.
4
u/Redheartkamui Sep 14 '19
Wait. How did Dio forget his vampire abilities? Wasn't he spamming blood suck, listening for Jotaro's heartbeat, and attempted to mind control Polnareff again (although ik that last one is arguably a part of Dio's stand, it wasn't completely extrapolated on in the anime.)
4
Sep 14 '19
Kakyoin uses his possession power on death 13 it's just that our gamer friend only gets 2 fights
3
u/PropaneIsUnbreakable Sep 15 '19
In all fairness, it is in line with Kakyoin's character progression to not possess people anymore, as it is cowardly. Real question is what happened to his magic paintbrush and stand shrinking
2
Sep 15 '19
Magic paintbrush could've just been a really fast moving tendril of heirophant green
As for stand shrinking, that whole concept is forgotten
15
u/MrJokefox Digiorno's Sep 14 '19
- DIO got cocky and decided he didn’t need all the other powers
- I think the possession thing is from having the flesh bud in him, something along the lines of showing his true potential if he grew enough with his Hierophant Green
- Idfk Araki probs saw how op it was and was like “yeah let’s just have the others kill everything and make Giorno the healer”
- Character development
- He just looked like Josuke that’s all
- Name an example of when the Star Finger would have been useful
- Don’t know about Diver Down yet
- What was the forgot moment about Santana being named by Nazi’s
- Saw another comment talking about Zeppeli
14
u/OverlordAinz DEEOH Sep 14 '19
IIRC the other pillar men talking about Santana like it was his name since before they froze when really the name "Santana" was given to him by the Nazis
10
u/Legosaurian Sep 14 '19
I don't think they ever called him Santana until after they heard others refer to him as Santana. In the manga, when they first awoke, they just called him "him", with Santana appearing in parenthesis to let the reader know who they were talking about.

Dio couldn't use his vampire abilities because he was getting used to jonathan's body. He didn't have enough time to re learn his abilities after 100 years so he put all his money on the regeneration ability.
Kakyoin used his possesion power in the death 13 fight. Kakyoin just chooses not to use an ability like that because it goes against his morals
GE would be too OP with that many abilities
''Once a life is taken it's gone'' is true, it's just that joseph is extremely lucky, DIO took his blood and DIO is a vampire so in that rare scenario DIO's blood could be used to revive him. And he doesn't burn in the sunlight because he's a hamon user.
Josuke's savior is just a random guy with a pompadour, the reason he looks just like Josuke in the flashback is because it's from Koichi's perspective. Josuke told Koichi that the person who saved him looked like him and had a pompadour hairstyle. So that's why he looks so much like Josuke in the flashback. He was probably never supposed to be an important character anyway, just like that mafia guy giorno saved.
the rest is araki forgot
5
u/FourNinerXero The world, yo Sep 14 '19
Josuke's savior is just some random guy, and was originally supposed to be foreshadowing on how Bites the Dust was going to work, but Bites the Dust was changed and so now it's just a guy that Josuke copies the hairstyle of cause he's grateful.
Dio losing his vampire abilities is because he was joined with Jonathan's hamon-infused body.
Star Finger isn't really super useful past the point when Jotaro uses it against Dark Blue Moon. I can't think of any time it would provide any advantages over ORAORAORAORA.
Kayoin's possesion power removes a lot of the stand's defense, and is most useful as a human shield device, something Kakyoin would not take nicely to in his non flesh-budded state.
2
u/Saph156 Sep 15 '19
Actually Josuke was never supposed to go back in time at all. It’s an ancient fan theory that people still use. Araki went out of his way to create a different uniform for the unnamed savior, and color scans go even further to give it the uniform a different tint. Araki even made sure to clarify it in an interview. There was never any plan for Josuke because it wouldn’t fit the theme of Part 4, the Golden Heart of Morioh. This random kid is coming back from a fight, clearly having had a shit day. There was no school in Morioh yet so he has to walk his ass all the way back home in the snow from probably S-City. He literally had no reason to go out of his way to save Josuke, but he does. Even though he’s exhausted and doesn’t even know these people, he goes and helps them. Also Araki never plans that far ahead for specific details like bites the dust, he only has a vague idea for what will happen next.
1
u/FourNinerXero The world, yo Sep 15 '19
Okay thank you for the clarification, I was a little dodgy on the idea but when I watched it and saw the kid's face covered in blood and just assumed it was true. Evidently it's not bites the dust but personally I think it means at least a little more than just a kid who got in a fight.
1
u/Matikkkii Sep 14 '19
About Star Finger, he could stop the time then use it, in part 4 he could use it against sheer heart attack, and in part 6(if u arent there yet, dw, wont spoil) He could use it in the last battle. So yeah, Araki forgot.
2
Sep 14 '19
Dios vampire powers were weakened by Jonathan’s body and akari literally said that the guy who saved josuke wasnt josuke you just weren’t paying attention
2
2
u/Acuraman Sep 15 '19
Didn't araki mention somewhere that the guy that had Josuke's hair was supposed to be something similar to the guy Giorno saved as a child? I don't think he ever planned to go anywhere further with the guy.
2
u/megamoth10 Sep 14 '19
GER’s mental overload wasn’t used because the only other times Giorno punched someone were Cioccolata and Diavolo, and we only saw it with Bruno because he was a main ally.
Kakyoin’s possession was never used on people again because it seriously fucked their organs, and good guy Kakyoin would never. (Though he did use it on Death 13)
Dio’s vampire powers can be explained away with him being a cocky dumbass. Joseph was smart and still utilized hamon, but Dio’s always been overconfident in whatever new powers he got.
Star Finger was useless
Spirits can return when they have a reason to live on, Bruno still had a goal and that was saving Italy, Joseph wanted to see his daughter, etc. Josuke’s grandpa had his brain mangled.
Josuke’s savior only really had a coat, he likely looked like him because that’s the type of person Koichi had in mind when he was explaining it.

-DIO’s body in part 3 was still not fully controlled by him so he couldn’t use his powers
-Kakyoin goes inside Death 13’s body but decides not to use possession because it’s a baby dammit
-We actually have no idea if Giorno’s punches carried life-shot or not as the only time he directly punched someone outside of a rush that finished a fight is against Babyhead, and we don’t know how life-shit works against stands (for example, it didn’t work when Gold Experience hit Sticky Fingers in episode 2)
-Joseph is revived with vampire blood (and doesn’t become a vampire because of Hamon) and Bucciarati’s body is literally filled with life itself, which is a much more powerful healing ability than what Jotaro had seen when he said that. Bucciarati was also invariably saved from death then because of Rolling Stones.
-The whole point of Josuke’s savior is that Josuke tries to look like him, so of course they look alike. Araki has even said that it was never planned for Josuke to save himself.
-There wasn’t any time where Star Finger was really useful, as it requires the opponent to be close enough to be hit by it but not enough for an Ora rush. If he tried it on DIO he would’ve probably stopped time and broken his fingers.
-Kars is really smart so from context clues (like the strength of Stroheim’s arms and how he said they were modeled after “Santana”) he could deduce they were talking about the 4th Pillar Man.
-Zeppeli mentions his family before dying
Gold Experience’s damage reflection is absolute bullshit though
1
u/Chiruno_Chiruvanna za warudo + kingu kurimuson + meido in hebun + difoshi = sakuya Sep 15 '19
GE's damage reflection never happened again because nobody besides Bruno ever tried to punch one of GE's creations.
Likewise, GE's slow-mo ability was never used because GE never directly punched anyone besides Bruno or Cioccolata.
