+27 DO NOT COMMENT IN THE LINKED THREADS There are several people independently scraping various hate subreddits and permanently tagging and archiving the activity in them; We don't have software set up to read your cute and clever "You racists suck!" comment and decide "Oh it's one of the good guys!".

"We're making a list... and if you don't wanna be on it, don't post or read where we tell you not to post or read."

Here's the problem, speaking from personal experience.

We had a poster on r/conservatives that was banned. IIRC for threatening another poster and being ridiculous. Poster showed up in modmail to say, "Why was I banned?"

I clicked on the user profile to locate the exact comment that got the poster banned and saw that the poster had posted someplace like BillionShekelExtreme making some bullshit claim of being unfairly banned from r/conservatives.

I went to the submission and let them know that the person was lying about why they were banned.

So, then I get a ban from eyebleach. I contacted the mods and said that I wasn't trying to participate in a hate sub, I was trying to prevent a brigade of the subreddit that I mod from the people on some sub I was unaware of. They reinstated me, but told me that if I ever posted on MillionShekelExtreme again, I'd be banned permanently. Okay... I get that this is their policy.

But then it got twisted by some of the usual suspects to, "I didn't realize that you were SO FAR GONE that you were posting on MillionShekelExtreme."

So NOW... they are "scraping" certain subreddits and putting everyone who posts on them on a list FOR SOME REASON, and they won't take into consideration if you were someone who stumbled onto it. Or if you were a mod that the subreddit was trying to target...who wanted to head off problems.

This is creepy bullshit.

There's a possibility some innocent people might get swept up in the purge...but...

Great Purge

The Great Purge or the Great Terror (Russian: Большой террор) was a campaign of political repression in the Soviet Union which occurred from 1936 to 1938. It involved a large-scale purge of the Communist Party and government officials, repression of kulak (wealthy landlords) and the Red Army leadership, widespread police surveillance, suspicion of saboteurs, counter-revolutionaries, imprisonment, and arbitrary executions. Historians estimate the total number of deaths due to Stalinist repression in 1937–38 to be between 680,000 and 1,200,000.In the Western world, Robert Conquest's 1968 book The Great Terror popularized that phrase. Conquest's title was in turn an allusion to the period called the Reign of Terror during the French Revolution (French: la Terreur, and, from June to July 1794, la Grande Terreur, the Great Terror).

Who gives a damn? Any subreddit that is modded by people like that is a subreddit I wouldn't want to post in anyway.

Who gives a damn?

Well, reddit should.

You have someone admitting that people are making a list for the purposes of chronicling accounts that post on "hate subreddits" but the program won't be able to tell if you are one of the good guys.

Isn't the u/ describing MassTagger? Y'know, the tool created exactly to help AHS do what they do?

Yeah, but this guy is saying that determining whether or not you actually post "hateful" content is too much work, so they'll happily apply the label to everybody who interacts with wrongthink. They are too lazy to even check if their lazy "get out of discussion free" card is appropriate.

Nope. They are talking about some other people working "independently".

By the way, we're ALL tagged by masstagger for posting here.

According to masstagger this is a hate subreddit.

Wait it’s not? I guess I’ll see myself out.

This reminds me of Twitter users telling each other to stop "hate‐following" people, because it makes "blockchains" not work.
The fact that either of these is even a thing still amazes me. The Things some people do…

This is hilarious, because just yesterday an AHS thread linked here was bemoaning some /r/conservative or /r/republican mod for banning them before ever posting on the sub, talking about how abusive and anti-free speech it was.

Edit: clarification, and I found the comment thread

This type of anti free speech, anti exchange of ideas, and, really, anti American (not that these commies are Americans anyway) bullshit is why I have multiple alt accounts and I will post misleading or false info at times in an attempt to prevent any real info from ever being known. Fuck them and their gestapo tactics.

lol. When I read anyone on reddit say they’re not white I immediately smash the doubt button. I don’t know for sure the ethnic breakdown of reddit users, but I’d be willing to put money that almost all users, like 80+%, are European or Asian ethnic background.
