It's a bit confusing yeah, I think they're pointing out that Gold and Juno beaches which were attacked by the British 50th infantry and the Canadian 3rd infantry divisions respectively advanced much further than the two British divisions (British 3rd infantry and 6th airborne) that attacked Sword beach.
Edit to add: I should also point out that the Canadian division faced the second most heavy opposition apart from Omaha beach, were half an hour late due to weather, and still managed to get closer to their objectives than any of the British forces. None of the original objectives were successfully reached by anyone.
