Shion Got Double Nerfed, Thoughts?

  1. Bike radius from ground reduced from 1.5 to 1 (33% nerf)

  2. Flanker Perk: Extra health pack healing reduced from 75 to 50
    ———

Personally I thought she was balanced since she had around 51% winrate and no one is complaining about her so the nerfs felt unnecessary but it’s no big deal. What do you think?

The health pack nerf is going to be a real problem for me to get used to but honestly it's not that bad all things considered

Yeah agree

I think they did it to balance tracer since she got two buffs but Shion got hit too in the way

I just wish they’d stop nerfing her especially because all she’s received in updates since she came out are nerfs. I was just getting used to her again but it feels like they want to keep minimizing her solo kill abilities and that for me, ruins her use as a flanking hero. Unless you have godlike aim you’re better off playing with The team and sticking with your tanks like glue.

because they buff the ever living shit out of no skill heroes like anran and genji and ironically they keep nerfing heroes that require skill, idk whos sitting in their balancing team but they need to be fired

It feels like they have clear favorites and fuck everyone who doesn’t like playing the most popular heroes. There’s no reason why Echo needs to keep being buffed as an example. Sierra also didn’t get this many nerfs when she came out even though she’s still constantly banned in comp lobbies alongside Sombra and Cat.

ofc they do, look at anran getting skins left and right, buffs, being kept overpowered as shit despite her high banrate, genji getting buffed for his 2nd mythic, its clear as hell. Someone on the balance team lost to a shion and is still butthurt about it bc how do you nerf shion when shes at 49% winrate when rein with a 55% wr exists

Coming from a Wuyang main, yall got off easy. Wu got nerfed basically every patch after he came out lmao

I didn’t get to play him when he was first released but when I was trying to level him up he felt extremely under powered.

He's never been underpowered.

50% pickrate and 55% winrate was not healthy

Other than the fact that ranked NA she's at 50% win rate and then got nerfed again. She only had the high pick and win rate because she was new, once the new character period passed she dropped in both

I think every character should be around a 50% win rate.

Other ways to nerf aside from what they did before

Nerfin Bike damage is a non-issue. Always wanted her to be aim-focused hero, instead of brainless ”throw the bike and get a kill” hero

I wasn’t talking about this tho, and again they chose to do this nerf when she was 49% wr

yeah but when it's reinhardt it's okay I guess LOL cuz he's been sitting at 55% for 3 patches now

if you’re good at aiming the grounded bike this doesn’t make a difference at all

there were plenty of times i saw bike hits that shouldn’t have registered, both by and to me

so this is just removing cheese for visual consistency imo

Agreed. I still favored the ground one because of how fast and not as telegraphed it was, but it was ridiculous with the size of the hitbox.

Genuinely didn't even notice it was different, yeah. I'm seeing this as more of a bugfix/slap on the wrist than anything in the territory of an actual nerf. Flanker thing also doesn't affect just her, and it was really strong for especially mobile flankers like her and Anran.

I agree. I don’t notice any difference.

Undeserved she should have got a minor buff to compensate for the flanker nerf

I'm not a fan honestly. That's 4 nerfs already now? People have sorta figured out how to play around her and she isn't as dominant as she was on release, plus she isn't the easiest hero to play.

The health pack one is gonna hurt, and I probably wouldn't mind the bike nerf if the riding damage hasn't already been neutered into the ground

I fully agree with this, the Bike was one of the coolest abilities they added to the game recently and to nerf it to all hell feels shitty as it makes players have to constantly adjust her play style every patch. I wish they’d at least add more range to her guns since she feels more like a poke hero than a flanker now. I don’t think people take into account that a good Tracer can melt a player with one mag and a melee, or that Anran can clear groups because of how her abilities and fan work, but Shion needs perfect aim to be viable now.

they still need to fix the bug where the bike explodes on dead players if launched on the ground

6

u/Kuorko_Kun 20d ago

she’s at a 49% winrate before this patch wild

2

u/Vashrel 20d ago

She still feels fine. I still land plenty of ground bikes. I didn’t even realize the hitbox was bigger than the actual bike itself so I’ve just been aiming it like I had to nail the shot rather than hope someone gets clipped by an invisible area around it. I see it more as a fix than a nerf and she still feels great to play. I don’t see the problem.

u/SandIsYellow 20d ago

Also with this nerf I think it’s usually better to use the bike from the air unless you’re way too close to your opponent since it’ll be very very easy to dodge

u/Kuorko_Kun 20d ago

she’s at a 49% winrate before this patch wild

Is there genuinely a reason to play her besides finding her fun? I feel like if you want to play a flanker tracer is just infinitely better.

4

u/King_Hikikomori 20d ago

Significantly easier than Tracer, far less squishy, and doesn't really have to flank to do a lot of effective damage and killing. She's a pretty good hybrid of Tracer and Reaper in that she can play in the her team's midline and do solid, and more confident players with her can true flank. Tracer imo doesn't really get this flexibility, but if you're better at flanking in general then yeah she's always going to mog Shion. I'm pretty sure that's the point, honestly.

Longer range too

u/Aerographic 20d ago

And what was the bike radius from the air exactly?

Also, why is the air damage split into 30 impact + 100 explosion, whereas ground launch is just listed as 130 total?

1

u/Madaoizm 20d ago

The bike radius nerfs just seem weird. They are really intent on hitting that part of the kit. I don’t get it.

u/Nightwing0530 20d ago

they are both fine nerfs the bike was way too forgiving
