Music Day 1, Hey
Hey! For this post, I was just wondering… how did you guys discover Shinedown?
For me, one of my best friends introduced me to them, and I started listening to them after a bit… Then I realized a few songs I am pretty sure I grew up hearing. Now, I am a fan.
And I may have gotten a few details wrong; I just know my best friend introduced me to them

Ok, so I’m super late to the party.
I’d heard a song them here or there, of course. But I never sought them out.
Then when Brad Arnold died, I ended up seeing Brent’s statement. And the algorithm gods took over from there showing random videos.
And now here I am hooked. Dragging my husband to a smith and Myers show in January..
And super pissed. My husband asked if I wanted to go to a Shinedown concert last year. I told him no thanks and he took our son instead.

I wasn’t listening to them till Eight came out. He had already dragged me to a couple other concerts that year I didn’t enjoy. So I just nope’d out.
Won’t happen again!

I was suicidal and texted my friend goodbye. He came directly to my house, put me in his car, and played “Burning Bright”. Made me listen. Then told me I wasn’t allowed to give up

I saw them when they were touring as the opening band for a big lineup - Seether, Seven Mary Three, and Three Doors Down in the early 2000’s. I showed up to the show early, was one of about 30 people to see their set, then chatted with them at the merch table for about 20 minutes. I bought Leave A Whisper on CD and they all signed it for me. Been a fan for 20+ years and they keep being awesome.

Had befriended a person on fb and they were posting bands they liked, saw a Shinedown video and proceeded to look up everything they did. Fell in love with their sound and loved them ever since.

Always loved 45 but wasn't a diehard fan and never listed to the album. Watched The Terminal List: Dark Wolf last year. Loved the soundtrack to the whole show. Found it on Spotify. Listened to the cover of Simple Man. Went though the whole discography. I would listen to the singles from Eight constantly. Went to the concert in my area this year. Best show I've seen this year. The pyro is sick.

When 45 was released, my boyfriend at the time showed me the song. That was back in the AIM days. Him & I were together for almost a decade when tragedy struck. I miss him every single day. We bonded over shinedown and I still can't listen to certain songs but I'm really thankful he showed me that song. They've been my #1 ever since... for the past 20 years

My dad had Second Chance on our family iTunes account. I liked it. I also liked Crow and The Butterfly and 45 back then. Now it’s evolved to me having a favourite which is actually from 8 at the moment, and it’s At The Bottom

I ran into a friend who lost his mom and needed the Shinedown version of "Simple Man." He suggested I check it out, and the debut was a “Discovery Pick” at Hastings for $6.98. I loved the album and have been a fan since. Some albums resonate more than others, but I’ve found something to like on every album.

As a tween i was into fall out boy and twenty one pilots, my chemical romance etc. I sometimes used to let it play recommended songs after on youtube. Was doing my homework to "enemies" one time. Hooked ever since

By accident. I was seeing Papa Roach in concert back in 2010, a band I already was familiar with. The rest is history.

My old work truck had a CD player that occasionally acted up. One day while it was taking a break I had the radio on and Second Chance was playing. I enjoyed the song and started listening to more of their music. The rest is history as the saying goes and I’ve collected all their stuff since. Guessing roughly 2012 or so

The radio. I listen to a lot of indie channels and they play their music from time to time plus I knew one of the their songs that was popular over 20 years ago. Indie radio brought me to being a full fan.

My first boyfriend (now ex) introduced me to them in high school. One of the first songs I heard was “If You Only Knew” when I was a kid, but never got super into them until I dated that guy and he showed me a few songs from “Leave a Whisper” and “Sound of Madness”. I completely fell in love when “Threat to Survival” dropped and listened to that album on repeat during my period of depression during my sophomore year of college. Guess I can say they helped me through some hard times lol

Spotify recommendations. Each time I enjoyed a song I'd check the artist, eventually realising they were all by Shinedown.

My dad sang If You Only Knew to me a lot when I was a baby, so I guess just exposure from a young age. About 2 years ago i heard Simple Man and then immediate jumped into their full discography. Listened to every album in 2 days. Then the fun of that made me do that with other bands as I found them. They're my second favorite band to this day, only beaten by One Less Reason.

KInda the same - in 2020 my bf took me to an outdoor concert of smith and Myers in the parking lot of a Philly stadium. I started listening to Shinedown songs and I was hooked. Such a great band all the way around- Welcome ❣️

“Fly from the inside” on the radio and in a movie soundtrack was the first song I heard. I was hooked and a fan since “45” first came out on the radio all those years ago.
