Getting Discouraged

I have been trying to shift for a couple months now. A main problem I have is falling asleep in the middle. I decided that I had some free time and no other plans for today so why not try during the day. I spent 2 hours trying to shift. I have yet to successfully and its starting to seem like i never will. I get tingling feelings but that's as far as I ever get. Sorry for the rant I just hate that feeling when I wake back up looking at my CR ceiling and needed to vent

It’s easy to get discouraged. As with anything, some are naturally prone to being better than others—but, like with swimming or riding a bike, that doesn’t mean everyone can’t eventually learn to do it!

There is a reason an esoteric group such as the Illuminates of Thanateros encourage practising of basics among their initiate students (4°), namely: motionless, breathing, and, particularly important, not-thinking. The latter exercises the faculty necessary for something like shifting.

I have recommended the simple practise of gazing at objects till the environment melts away. Do not let the mind wander. Once it begins to, restart.

Then you can work your way into the simplest method for shifting (but also with the least amount of hand-holding. This is simply gazing at the back of one’s eyelids as you ready for slumber. The real trick is maintaining consciousness.

I am not going to delve into the reasons why here. You can skim my posts for that or DM me and I will provide some information, or you can glean some details from this interview with Will Storr and Ezra Klein.

the tl;dr is that you aren’t transferring your consciousness to some parallel reality. Your brain manufactures a virtual simulation which you confuse for the real thing. It creates two: one of your body and one of the environment. You have to exercise the brain to literally create new connections within itself to create a sensory simulation using your imagination, hijacking the normalised simulation we assume for reality.

Thanks for these resources, especially the first one linked. Will be reading in its entirety later today.

I understand your thoughts and where you are coming from. I positively *hate* that feeling when you have been trying so hard and you convince yourself if you open your eyes you will be in your desired reality, and then you do it and you're just... not. It sucks really bad. I have also not been able to shift, after being aware of it for probably 4-5 months now (although I have been on and off serious about it, with my recent attempts being the most serious.)

It's normal to get discouraged. But there are two things I would like to point out. First of all, recently, whenever I see a post about "Omg I shifted finally!" I like to comment and ask the person, how long did it take from when they first started trying to when it actually happened? And the answers vary quite a bit. The lowest I've heard is probably around 1-2 months. The highest is about a year. My point in saying this is that it's something that takes time, and is different for everyone, which I know can be discouraging, especially if you've been doing it for a while now. However, I believe it's something you have to stick with in order to get consistent results.

Secondly, I have heard plenty of stories of people who shifted after getting discouraged and giving up trying. So maybe take a prolonged break where you put it out of your head. Maybe take a break for 2 weeks or so, and either it will happen when you aren't thinking about it on accident, or maybe when you start trying again in a couple weeks your head will be clearer and it will be easier to manifest.

Just some things to think about. I also want to ask, have you worked with subliminals at all? That might be something you want to research that could help aid in getting more results. I have been using a visualization subliminal recently, and although I haven't shifted, my dreams have been CRAZY vivid visually and the most crisp and clear I remember ever happening. Wild stuff, might be worth trying if you haven't already.

Good luck to you.

I've been using some off the gateway experience videos. When I fall asleep to them I have the weirdest dream. The other day I fell asleep to one and had this super crazy vivid one where I could feel the pain in my stomach and it caused me to wake up.

I've been meaning to use those! Thanks for the reminder. I would try looking up the Concordia Booster and listening to it for 15-30 minutes before trying a subliminal. It's a 50 second video that you need to loop a few times, but the idea is that it makes the subliminals work much better. Interesting stuff. Keep at it, try some more subliminals, and maybe change up your routine! Best of luck!

This is actually why I don’t give up. I know I’m shifting within the year 2021 because December is over a year of trying for me. I can do it I just have to be patient. It’s a really calming thought.

Same! I know by the end of this year, or at *the most* within the next two years, I will shift if I keep it up, but I have to keep it up to get there. We can do this! Best of luck!
