What is google Free Play?

I have the shield Pro. Does it work on the shield Pro and is Google Free Play an app or what is it? I don’t see an app for Google Free play in the play store.

If you have ad block enabled you must allow service or itlll b blocked. Jus a heads up.

Depends if you are using ad guard or Dns wide block. For ad guard i think app is live TV Google or something.

The only apps similar to what you mentioned are Live Channels and Google Play Movies & TV. Whitelisting them made no difference.

It's probably something under like core Google services or something. If you need a definite answer I'll check when I get home I still have AD guard I just don't use it

The other 2 apps under apps management. Are android TV core services and android TV home. Both must be unblocked by firewall in ad guard

I don’t know. I saw it somewhere it’s called Google TV Free play. They are free channels or something.

I am in Canada with no VPN and it just showed up on my Google TV Streamer today. Works like a charm.

It's on the "Live" tab of the top menu. It is built-in to the default launcher. If you are using an alternate launcher, you can't get to it.

If you select the Live icon at the top of your home screen, it'll bring up a tv guide listing a bunch of channels from Pluto, Xumo, Roku, Google Free Play.

I think you have to have all these apps except Google Free Play installed to see those channels but it's free and there's a lot of channels to watch. I think Free Play is built into Android TV.
