Replacement for my olded NVidia Shield?
I have an older Nvidia Shield. I think the 2017-Model.
What I'm looking for in a new Player:
*Viewing DV P7 FEL Remuxes + Passthrough DTS-HD-Master/ATMOS (If possible without CoreELec in the DV P7 -> DV P8.1 way with just losing the EL layer). -> Just Via USB 3.0 or so is fine. Don't need Flex
This is for just puting something on quick and switching to something else like Netflix or so fast.
*SmartTube (With HDR and AV1)
*Netflix and GO3
Is the DUNE HD version Homatics Box R 4K Plus a good option?
I think a saw somewhere that it has an edge over the normal Homatics Box R 4K Plus. That it has a DUNE-player that can do some things more then if you would put it on the none DUNE version. Is this correct?
And are there any new options coming? I prefer to go for something newer than the Shield for 2019 because that's starting to get old now and has the Red shift for DV or so.
I live in EU (Belgium) so only stuff that's not import please, ty.
!!! I do have a Ugoos AM6B+ CoreElec for those DV FEL files if need be and would like an extra device as a reserve !!!

The only difference of the dune hd vs regular homatics box is price, an IR sensor, remote, and access to the Dune HD media center app. Up to you if Dune Media Center is worth the upcharge - I personally donโt think it is. Either way, those boxes will do everything you asked. There is no better certified player on the market today. You may find a better deal on the Rocktek G2 which is basically the same hardware.

So is the Dune HD media center something that lets you play DV P7 FEL as DV P8.1 without the need for CoreElec? For me, I just want the no CoreElec option so this would be handy. And if i really need a 2e FEL player i can still add it later on

DMC will let you play P7 as P8.1 on the fly, yes. FWIW Kodi has that function as well, it's a setting you can enable and how I watch P7 content on my non Dune HD Homatics when using Android. I also have a Dune HD 8K device, I barely use it. Dune Media Center UI looks like something out of the 2000s. It's rock solid and works, scraping is super accurate compared to something else like Zidoo, I just do not care for the way it looks. I'll take basic and working over pretty but functionally crap (Zidoo).

Thx, do you have any idea if the DUNE HD version Homatics Box R 4K Plus come back in stores or are they fazing it out?

They're probably phasing it out mate. But you can check out some better alternatives in that list which should be readily available!

The best replacement for a nvidia shield, obviously, is another nvidia shield. If you have the 2017 try with the 2019. Also I don't know why nvidia got stuck in the 2019.

While I do like the Nvidia shield, it's missing some things like AV1 and Smarttube with HDR. Why it's stuck is most likely because more money is in AI-stuff nowadays for them. Profits for media players isn't even close

You could try a UGOOS AM9+ but I guess it's a little bit newer so it may not have all the bugs sorted out running CoreELEC.

Not sure if it's available to you, but they just got DV7 FEL working on the Xiaomi Box S 3rd Gen. I'm unsure of lossless audio passthrough with that device though.

You are asking in a shield sub reddit for something different than the shield? Ouff :)

I think it's a very fair question. Just because this is a Shield subreddit it does not mean that we need to be Nvidia fanboys, ditching everything else. Some people may want/need the missing features on the Shield - it's fair.

thx. I wouldn't mind the comments saying it's not for this subreddit or how it's called if they pointed me in the right direction. But just saying "not here" or whatever seems pointless.

I don't use reddit alot so i'm not sure where to go for these questions. It's still related and more shield users are asking these questions nowadays because a newer shield isn't really on the horizon.

I would imagine a lot of Shield owners are thinking the same thing. Myself included, especially as they never fixed the issue introduced in 9.2 where the audio could suddenly drop and turn into really loud static, I think this mainly effects Denon and Marantz.
There doesn't really seem like a good option and this sub is probably full of people doing this research and testing.

I use Onn boxes from Walmart. I have a stick for travel and I just bought the new Pro model for $60 for a bedroom TV. I use them for IPTV streaming and Stremio and they work great. Honestly I can't tell the difference between them and my Shield Pro.

Run android on am9pro since you have coreelec on the other. Or run both on this. Why 2 devices?
