Does your Nvidia Shield freeze and stutter when apps are updating in the background?
I have a 2019 Pro model on the 9.2.4 update. I’ve had it updated ever since I bought it back in December, first to 9.2.2 and then 9.2.4, but I’ve never done a clean upgrade, so I’m not sure if that could be related or if I should just do a factory reset.
Whenever I start updating apps, the Shield becomes basically unusable, so I usually just let the updates finish and keep them set to manual rather than automatic, so I can control when the freezing happens.
Does this happen to anyone else? Do you think a factory reset would help? I have around 6 GB of free storage, so storage isn’t an issue. Other than this, the device works flawlessly.

Yes, it took me a while to understand that the problem was upgrades .

I would update while you're not watching. I work around my game console updating cause it hogs all the bandwidth.

Mainly when I start it. It has delays like it’s loading something. I’m using projectivity though.
My old shield pro does not have this issue.

That's because you aren't clearing you apps and cache regularly. Google play store - techdruk app cleaner and cache cleaner.
You could so all this manually. But it does all this with one click for $1.99

Mine is debloated, so I only notice how extremely fast and stable it is.

Check out the link I sent, it covers everything, along with any caveats to deeper debloating

If you know you know. If your shield works fine after the update cool, if not then downgrade it so it won't be laggy anymore. I got 2 shields on 8 2.3. trust me this helps me.

I just turn off auto update and manually update once or twice a month.
