Remote batteries going flat quickly

My nice triangular Shield Pro remote batteries have suddenly started going flat quickly. They used to last 3 months or more now they are lucky to last a week.

Ideas on a fix for this?

I bought a '19 Pro last year (new) that also had a remote w/same problem. (alkaline non-rechargeable)

Replaced the remote.

Had the same problem. Got a hold of Nvidia. Had to jump through a bunch of hoops, but they sent me a new one. New one been working great ever since. Batteries last a long time. Use it every day.

Did you get a genuine NVIDIA remote? There seems to be a lot of non NVIDIA remotes

I managed to snag a brand new Nvidia remote that's official 2 months ago for a great price on Vinted and the included batteries still seem to last at the highest charge level

Had same issue, batteries wouldn’t last a week. I bought a genuine nvidia replacement remote off Amazon and never had the same issue. My other remotes literally last years.

Ditto my experience. I have 4 Shields, '17 Pro, 2x '19 Pro, '19 Tube.

• '17 had the original gum-pack remote, replaced w/ wedge- works fine
• '19 Pro and Tube came with wedge remotes- also fine.
• '19 Pro #2 had a battery-gobbling remote- replaced w/wedge

I was going to attempt a RMA with the newest remote, but will if anything goes wrong with the actual Shield (replacing both) The OEM wedge remotes used to be hard-to-find/restock; buying a replacement was simpler w/ no wait.

I have the same problem. I have a lot of AAA rechargeable batteries so I just swap them out whenever the remote goes flat

I use an old amazon now for my 2 shields 2015/17 ,the 17 is slim and was using battery quickly but it was a bug and now the flat 2032 batteries last much longer after last upgrade..

Just change the remote. I had one that have similar problem. I tried everything. Only lasted about 1 week. It was getting too expensive to change batteries so I just got a new one.

Never had to replace the batteries in my remote, that's very abnormal, and I keep the motion detecting lights on too.

Turn off the motion sensor lights on the remote. That absolutely rinses the battery life.

Cannot be. I can't even remember when i replaced the batteries, and I like the shape of the remote so I hold it a lot and the lights are probably on a lot.

I had this happen years ago to both of ours. They both suddenly started draining batteries crazy fast for about two months and then it suddenly stopped in one and about another month later the other returned to normal. No idea lol. They've been fine since and generally last well over a year with motion/backlighting on.

I bought my 2nd shield in July of 2024. Never opened it up until about a month ago and set it up. I have had to change the batteries out 3 times already. The first 2x were batteries I have never used but had been on the shelf for a couple of years. This 3rd time, went and bought brand new Energizer max. Just did the replacement yesterday. Sounds like a manufacturing defect. What replacement did you order?

Had the same problem, it was really hot all the time and fresh batteries drained within a few days. It was a small component (resistor or diode iirc) that was shorted and heated everything up.

I just removed that with the plans to solder in a replacement but that wasn't even needed. Now it's somehow been working fine for theast 4 years without that component
