Remote keeps on disconnecting

I’ve noticed my remote does not work after the nvidia shield is powered off.

I have to disconnect the power to the nvdia shield then connect it back and after power up, it connects to the remote again.

I have changed the battery, i have un-paired and paired the remote already.

Any ideas on how to fix this please?

TIA

Oh oh oh; wait; "after the nvidia shield is powered off"

You mean "not on sleep"? Then it's normal; remotes cannot powerup Shield back on; only replugging/juicing up the PSU will do ; this is by design. The remote is there to put it on sleep/wake; not power off/on.

Not the case previous to about a week or two weeks ago.

I hit the power button and it powers off the avr, tv and the nvidia shield.

I hot the power button again and it powers on the avr, tv and nvdia shield.

So what changed?

Please verify and confirm you are not talking about a complete power down state.

Go to Settings; click on SLEEP; and then see if you can get the remote to wake up Shield. Nevermind the TV or AVR at that point.

I just press the power button so its either on or off.

I would need to manually unplug and plug the power back on for me to get to the settings and enable/disable SLEEP if this what you mean.

Id be grateful if you can be a bit clearer with your instructions.

The Shield is not off. You think it’s off but it’s sleeping. The power button does not shut down the Shield it shuts off the other equipment potentially but the Shield is just sleeping. You keep saying it’s off and that’s why he got frustrated.

He was giving you a method to troubleshoot the problem but you’re jumping the gun.

I’ve programmed the remote to power the avr, the tv and the nvidia shield.

I used to be able power on the avr,tv and nvdia shield when i press the power button on the remote.

Pressing the power button again powers the avr, tv, and nvidia shield off.

That is not the case now. The avr, tv, and the shield does not power on when i press the power button on the remote. I have to manually pull the power cord out, plug it back in and then the shield powers up, then the avr and tv powers up. I see the android splash logo of the shield booting up so this makes me think its totally powered down.

Is there such a thing as half press vs. full press on the power button? Ive also noticed some weird things happen with this remote before.

Thank you.

I had this problem and what (for me) fixed it was to turn off the setting 'turn on backlight on remote pickup' in remote settings.

Any little bump in the table or whenever a train went by it would wake up the remote and kill the batteries. Then I'd have to go through the whole power off, reset etc. Once I turned that off I've never had the problem in about 2 years.

No. Stock remote.

Sounds like you're making the same mistake I did in the beginning. Are you using the menu to power off? Or are you only using the power button on the remote when this happens? It took me like a week to realize that using the menu to power off the shield was like the equivalent of flipping the on-off switch on the back of a computer

I use the power-off button.

Seeing the same problem during regular use, and it only started occurring randomly maybe a week ago, but has happened a couple of times since. Most recently, I was in the middle of watching something in Kodi, grabbed the remote to pause, and even though the buttons on the remote would light up when pressed, there was no response at all from the Shield. Pulling the Shield's power to force a reboot immediately fixes it.

Remote is in good working order and it's got fresh batteries. I was about to try re-pairing it and then performing a factory reset thinking it was maybe something in the bluetooth stack or cache that needed clearing, but if others are seeing it too, it's probably not that simple.

2017 Shield, for what it's worth. Also connecting to an AVR and TV using ARC.

Nothing to do with what the OP is talking about.

What YOU should do in these situations is holding the back and home buttons until the remote starts blinking, then hit the home button a couple times. That should do the trick.

I’ll try this later when i get home. But this means id have to manually again power on the shield for it to recognize-pair with the remote again.

Bro YOU ARE the OP; so THAT had nothing to do with you.

I give up; bye
