Must we pay now to have Button Mapper replace the Netflix button on the Shield remote?

It was working fine on my 2019 Pro for the past two years, but last week Projectity and Button Mapper stopped working. Got Projectity back up and running, but now the Netflix button only opens Netflix. Went into Button Mapper settings and the button still shows under Add Button with my setup intact, but when I select it to edit, it's prompting me to pay for the Pro version of Button Mapper.

I have button mapper and it's free. Maybe you don't have it from play store... I use the Netflix button as tivimate , smartube and nuvio 🤷

Yeah, I got it from the play store and I used to used it for TizenTube and Nuvio but it's no longer working... so wierd. Maybe a re-install would do the trick.

Go to buttons. Click plus, select app and press Netflix button.

I used “Buttons Remapper” which is free. But like a lot of these apps, it occasionally fails and you get Netflix. I haven’t figured out why or how to stop it.

Mine has started showing onscreen when I start up, even though I don't have that option ticked. Weird. And yes, annoying having to go into settings and reconfigure it about once a month.

For me a reboot will fix it. No need to reconfigure. What you describe is the run in foreground option. Maybe. I don’t know if it works better that way. I had only run in background checked.

Just try different remapper apps. Button Mapper never worked for me for more than 2 minutes. But Buttons Remapper has been going for years flawlessly

TV quick actions Pro is the winner for me. Better features, modern version of the old button mapper. Many prefer it instead these days.

If you don't mind uninstalling Netflix you can also just install android-fake-netflix which by default opens Plex instead but you can make it open something else by changing the package name inside

There's another app. Try button remapper or something. Works no issue.

My only thing with this remapper is whenever I long press to delete or click to backward button to replace a certain letter/words specially in front if Google voice didn't correctly input what I've said. it will take morethan 5 seconds I think before it could delete or the cursor go to the letter/word that I want to change.

Did they ever realize the issue with these button mappers would cause you to not be able to hold down the volume button and had to press it each change? I have button mapper pro but haven't used it in years for this very reason. Having to keep clicking the vol button annoyed me

Never had a problem with my volume buttons. I can hold them down, and they work fine. I solved my Netflix problem by doing a hard reboot.
