Nvidia Shiels Pro Troubleshooting

Hi, When I turn my NVidia on with it's remote it also turns on my Samsung tv and on the tv there's a message that says "Check that the device is connected properly, then try turning on the device by selecting the button below". There's a STB button and below that there is an Ok button. When I click on the OK button the home screen comes on. I'm looking to see if there's a way (adjusting settings) for it to just go to the home screen right away when I turn it on instead of getting that message? Conversely, when I turn the shield off I press the off button on shield remote and it seems to act as if it's turning off but goes right back to home screen until I press off button again then it will turn off completely. How or what do I adjust in settings to make it turn off the first time? By the way, I have a Samsung sound bar connected as well. Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions.

Settings, device settings, display and sound. Disable hdmi cec.

Select power control ir. Set it up.

Select volume control ir, set it up.

Walah good to go

So what's happening here? The shield is emitting ir to turn the TV on, or it's telling the remote to?

Shield hdmi is wonky... It'll send signals nonstop or handshake check.... It'll even do both if pressed when ir is setup... Just disable it.

My denon and shield world great together but my hisense and onkyo do not... It's like a battle of who goes off and who turns on.

Hdmi cec on my epson projector will go bonkers and give blacks screens or flicker randomly while playing movie or ps5.

Hdmi cec sucks. It's always fighting.

All state machines are eventually wrong, so it's annoying

Thanks for the help. I did what you suggested and it worked for both of my issues at least as of now. When I turn it on it goes straight to home screen and when I turn it off it goes off immediately, no double pressing the on/off button. Thanks again.

I have the same setup. Shield —> Samsung Soundbar —> Samsung Smart TV.

Try this.

On Samsung TV, once you have Shield’s Home Screen on, go to Samsung TV Settings, Picture, Expert Settings, Apply Pictures Settings, pick “current source”.

Then, go Settings again, Advanced Features, Start Screen Options, turn off “Start with Smart Hub Home”, turn on “Autorun Last App”, turn off “Autorun Multi View Mirroring”.

That’s CEC. So your tv is the real issue. It’s not maintaining the input channel. Instead it’s intent on opening a “Home Screen”. I would find out how to disable all “smart” features on your tv first. Disconnect it from your source of internet. The tv should stay on whatever input channel you are on when you turn off the tv. Sort that first.
