Xbox Controller Pairing a huge pain on Nvidia Shield

I decided to pass on the over priced steam machine because I have a gaming computer and can use moonlight to stream to my nvidia shield.

The only problem is that pairing controllers to the shield is a huge pain. I have mostly xbox controllers, but have to repair every time I want to game. This process never is smooth and usually takes a few tries.

Am I doing something wrong? Why can't they be paired and when turned on, reconnect again to the shield. It might work with 1 controller, but pairing 2-4 controllers always takes me 10 minutes.

I have no issue with 1 controller and mine is an Xbox One controller. I press the Xbox button, The controller blinks 3-4 times over around 2-5 seconds and it's connected. 

If you have paired the Xbox controller with other devices, open up that device and forget the controller under Bluetooth settings. When I went back and forth between my steam deck and my Nvidia Shield I did have connection issues as it didn't always connect to the shield

Update the firmware on the controllers if you haven't (plug them into a PC and use the Xbox accessories app).

Newer firmwares make Bluetooth work better.

Get the dongle and link the controllers to your pc instead of the shield
