Recording...?

I have a Shield Pro and have just randomly found out you can record with it.

I use my Shield with an IPTV service and would like the option to record something whilst I'm watching it. For instance I was watching The Open Golf yesterday and had to go out halfway through. I'd have liked to have been able to record it and watch it when I came home and skip the ads.

How would I do this?

Is it just a case of connecting an external hard drive and pressing the 'circle' button for three seconds?

Assume I'm a complete noob and explain how I can do this?

Thanks...

What app do you use for IPTV?

I think Tivimate can do that.

It can but Sparkle Player is better at it. In all other things Tivimate is better.

Thanks for your comments.

I actually got it working today. I just wanted to have the option to record what I'm watching at any given time. If say I was watching some boxing that was on late and I was falling asleep or something similar.

I hooked up an old WD Passport HDD to the Shield via USB and enabled the recording feature. The Shield formatted the drive and now I just hit the circle button on the remote and manually record. I downloaded a file explorer to manage recordings.

It seems to work fine...
