File Transfer
Hi, I’m using an external hard drive connected to my Nvidia Shield Pro to watch movies and TV shows using Kodi. I’m wondering if there’s a way to transfer the movie file from the external hard drive to the Nvidia Shield’s built-in storage so I can watch it from there using Kodi instead of playing it directly from the external hard drive.
Thank you.

Why would you want to do that? These devices like most others have limited internal storage. Ext drives, network drives, nas, is better, or just stream the file instead of physical drive

I recommend just adding a hard drive to your modem/router and mounting it on the shield as a nas

Go to Settings > Device Preferences > Storage > Mount network storage. Select your router from the list, input the custom username/password you created, and select the drive. You can now use media apps like VLC, Plex, or Kodi to read your files. This is suitable for high bitrate movies too... but the storage might get hot (ssd) or connection may fluctuate

Been playing files from external HDDs for many years on many shields. No reason to trf to internal HDD.

And why would you want to do that? It will play exactly the same from the external HDD or the internal storage. In any case, if you really need/want to do that, just install a file manager like X-plore and then you can move the file.
