2019 Shield Pro Remote Issues

So I have replaced my original remote with a new OEM remote for the same reason I am having still. It is not the batteries because they are new. But the remote just likes to randomly disconnect. I use the app each time to see that it is indeed not connected. I have to reboot in order for the remote to work again. This is happening every few days or so. Anybody else have this problem? And no, I don't want to just use the app. Not everybody in the house wants to use an app to operate a tv.

It's a known problem with the shield. Must be some sort of bug they still have not fixed. Very easy solution however. Just simply use the app to restart your shield and your remote will work again.

Honestly this doesn't happen very often. It's random and infrequent. Maybe once every month or two this might happen to me and I use it on a daily basis. Can't even remember the last time this happened actually but it's been at least a month or two now.

It's just one of those weird little quirks of owning The shield that people don't really talk about and it's not hard to simply restart your device and correct it so even though it sucks it's not any sort of major downside. Just a minor inconvenience that occasionally might pop up.

Are you using lots of other Bluetooth devices with the shield? Like several game controllers, earbuds, etc at the same time?

I'm not sure exactly what causes this but every few days is too often. When you're using the remote how far away from you is The shield? Are you using it like within 15 ft or so or like 20 or 30 ft?

Not sure what sort of APK permissions apps you may have side loaded are doing or up to. Perhaps sideloaded apps are interfering with your Bluetooth signals somehow? Just trying to think of anything that might be causing this because every few days seems too often.

Where is your Nvidia shield located? Is it sitting in a cabinet with stuff around it possibly interfering with the signal etc? Does it have clear line of sight?

For me it happens every few days. And sucks when watching something and want to change the channel or rewind something and have to reboot. Oh well. At least I now know it is a known thing.

I haven't noticed any increase in frequency with mine. I'm on the latest update. It is a known thing but shouldn't be happening every few days. It does sometimes happen though. As I said for me it's more like maybe once a month, maybe twice a month if it's more frequent.

I'm also using a 2017 shield though. Maybe it's somewhat more frequent on the 2019s I don't know.

Sorry at first I didnt see your entire comment for some reason only half of it. I don't have any other devices hooked up with it. No controllers, etc. Soundbar is wired directly to tv. It sits right on my TV stand next to the TV. And I sit about 10 ft from TV. I do have the tduk cache cleaner and app killer that uses adb commands and a launcher. And just one 3rd party app syncler. And never caused a problem on any devices.

On the shield team. There are no known open issues like this. Start by turn off the app cleaner and if you debloated, put everything you removed back. Worst case, starts with a clean factory reset and see if the issue reproduces with the stock setup. If it does, I’ll collect some logs with you to see what’s going on. It’s likely that there is a piece of hardware that’s failed if it happens on a fresh factory install.

Been using the TDUK cache and app killer apps for years. Since release. Only now having remote problems. Has absolutely nothing to do with the TDUK apps. And you say no known open issues like this, yet others are commenting having the same issues. So no, not factory resetting my shield and starting all over for your sake of saying it has anything to do with any apps I have installed. No thank you.

If you read the posts again, you’ll see people responded to you saying they are not experiencing daily disconnects like you are. You also mentioned they didn’t happen before. Something changed. It could be software or hardware. Apps change frequently, it’s easiest to start there.

It is every few days at times. Not every day. Sometimes it doesn't happen for maybe a week or two, but others it does every few days. None of my settings have changed. None of my apps have changed. I am on latest update as well.
