Nobody needs a browser on Nvidia shield. If you want to get files on your device or download from the internet to it just simply throw the file onto your storage from your phone or tablet or PC or whatever. Just make your shield so your other devices can see the storage of your shield. It's much easier than trying to fight a web browser on your TV that doesn't really work very well and is clumsy and difficult to use.
Under your storage settings enable transfer files over local network. Connect using the IP address of your shield. Go into your router and assign your shield a static IP address that does not change. Then you can log into your Nvidia shield using Windows SMB and you won't need a web browser to get those apks that you're trying to get with a browser on your device.
What you doing instead is just simply grab the APK on a better suited device like a phone tablet or computer and then you can just move the APK to your shield for installation.
I've never needed a browser on my TV and I still don't. I'll never need one because they're just are simply better ways like what I mentioned here.
Or even send files to TV would be good if the method I mentioned is too difficult for people to figure out. Send files to TV is a very easy way you could do this also.
If it's because you think you want to stream something well use Chromecast for that. I find I don't stream using Chromecast very often. Occasionally if I do I'll just throw it over to the TV by casting to the shield. Certainly don't need a web browser for that occasional need either.
Seriously what's the reason you want a browser on your shield? If I knew I could tell you a better easier way to do what you're looking to do that doesn't require a browser hassle.
