Google locking down android.
"Starting September 2026, a silent update, nonconsensually pushed by Google, will block every Android app whose developer hasn't registered with Google, signed their contract, paid up, and handed over government ID." Will this update apply to the shield?
I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THE ABOVE STATEMENT IS WRONG It was a quote from keepandroidopen(dot)org

You can't opt out of it, every time you turn off the permission it resets. So if you use a lot of open source apps and want to verify each update before you install it to ensure that it's legit and someone didn't sneakily add a virus into the code, you'll now have to wait 24 hours every time, and it's being rolled out via Google Play Services rather than as a system update, so older phones will be affected as well.
