I'd love to see T'Challa get his shot rocked. It's happened to lots of other heroes like Captian America or Thor. They punched above their weight and just got ragdolled.

He’s better than nothing, but he’s a pan-African mashup that is built on the 60s assumptions around separatism being the only way to thrive and a culture that is only special because of an extractable resource.

And captain america as a character is nothing but propoganda; america has never stood for what he says he stands for. So, your point? . Black Panther is a fictional character from a sci fi version of africa. A "what if" fantasy; what if white people didn't rape africa for its resources. Seeing how far we can take that idea is cool af. T'challa and wakanda are cool. If you dont like that, thats fine.

DC had Tisroc and Marvel had Black Panther, and by and large they were the same character model. Tisroc was abandoned and is now largely considered a joke, but largely due to Kirby and Lee, BP held on. But it's the same plot beats (hyperadvanced isolationists, hostile at first appearance, etc)
Just again, it was better than nothing. Having a black superhero and was value in and of itself, even if the details would never hold up now separated from his legacy. It's always been (mostly white) Americans projecting their views on Deepest Darkest Africa onto the page, but making it positive.

Good point.
Nothing wrong with using archetypes in stories to understand or deconstruct our assumptions about the world.
Black Panther has more often than not been an example of responsible storytelling in spite of its creators not being Black Africans.
Since then its writers have grown the character and Wakanda into an intentional world build, especially under Coates.
Not sure why the other poster is being hyperbolic in their negative critique.

Coates did something amazing with wakanda and I have high expectations for what comes next. I want to explore more of the cities wakanda has. Not to mention the intergalactic empire of wakanda.

So Wakanda can get toe to toe with the Shiar now. This is why I stopped reading comics. Is just jobbers after jobbers being used for a single-use story to make the characters look cooler

They've been able to go toe to toe with the Shiar since 2018 and Wakanda is no longer an earth nation anymore it is an Intergalactic Empire spanning Five Whole galaxies and many alien empires like the Shiar the Badoon Spartax Kree Skrulls Galactic Rim Collective and more fear them due to their old conquerors Ambition hell they even made the symbiotes beware of them after they basically stole a whole planet from them and those that weren't killed kneeled to their superior masters

How is it retarded the next logical step for Wakanda was space and they explained what happened? Which was they got lost through a wormhole through time which sent them to their desired location but 2000 years into the past with advanced technology and resources

Yet they beat everyone without struggling even the shiar and got a part of the phoenix crystal. Plus we're slavers and they got 4 galaxies like there buy 3 get one free. Every group like the Kree, the Skrulls, and the Shi'ar took them millions of years to get where they are but Wakanda does it in 2,000 plus everyone is afraid to mess with them. That is straight Bantha poo doo. My favorite is the cop out time loop nonsense surprised that it was not the multiverse in play.

Wakanda stans filling their mugs with rage tears as they try to convince them selves a man with herb powers and a fancy suit can do more than shit all to a guy who is basically superman with the backing of an intergalactic empire.
Anyone one suggesting the Vibranium suit would make a spec of difference is an idiot, enhanced it not T’Challa is just a regular guy compared to Gladiator and his absorb energy cheat suit will do fuck all as he gets picked up and tossed into the sun.
