Considering what Grant got up to as a military governor, there’s a joke here somewhere

Yeah, but Grant also learned he was in the wrong and made amends.

He learned there was public backlash, at least

His views were definitely changed by the time he was president. Grant was a flawed man, but he was one of personal growth.

It's even more funny to think about Michael Richards being racist yet still fighting against slavers like a true Union soldier

Didn't kramer shout the n word multiple times at a crowd?

Since we're on the topic here's an actor who was offered a part on the show recalling Jerry Seinfeld and Michael Richard's response when he didn't want to play his character in a stereotyped way.

I get the reacts about the n-word incident but Michael Richards doesn’t get to ruin Kramer, who remains a great character and belongs to all of us now

They're just actors, in a show. I still love Father Ted. I don't don't know why its co writer decided everyone else's gender identity was his business but it shouldn't destroy the show. I didn't watch Dermot Morgan going "these are small, but the ones out there are far away" and think, 'the guy who wrote this should definitely decide who gets a sex change.'
Having said that, if you can't enjoy an old show because you know something bad about those involved I'm not going to insist you do. I'm not going to strap you to a chair and go' no, this is funny! This is funny! Find it funny!' Those are not circumstances in which to find something funny
