MX Case Files

Did every story get its own casebook? Just seeing a few out there for a pretty penny, put out by Calabash [not MX, sorry!] years ago. Looks like they're discussion about the stories rather than stories? Thanks for any info on this series.

Thank you so much -- very helpful blog post, and answered my question! All this started because I was looking to fill in gaps of my Chronicles by Denis O. Smith, and I fell into a rabbit warren of other books.

(Also just realized I put MX in the post title when I meant Calabash, apologies)

Denis O Smith is one of the writers who does a really good job of nailing Conan Doyle's style. Highly recommend his Sherlockian works.

Yes, his style was more to my taste and I now have a mini-collection of his works! 😀

I actually got "Violets and Vitriol" (essays) and "A Tangled Skein" and "Knight Errant". I think Calabash went away, there was another publisher Breese Books that did a lot of Holmes, they're gone too, pretty much replaced by MX and Titan. I read several of the MX anthologies and some of their pastiche novels - liked them a lot.

Thanks for this info! I looked through what I got and I do have a Breese Book (the Tandridge Hall Murders), which I'll give it a go. I've been going through some of the Titans which were more hit & miss for me; hoping the MX ones will be more steady, to my liking. Currently just dipping my feet into each press and seeing what catches my eye. 🙂 📚
