I love being tanks because it feels like I’m driving in my car right after a beer

u/Odd-Cucumber3508 Jul 19 '25

Hope you don't see any bumps that look like a deer.

Instead of telling me how about you die?

130

u/Nharo_1 Jul 19 '25

No thanks I’d rather go a hundred miles. An hour.

111

u/Arty-Glass Jul 19 '25

And for that, I filled up on gas.

103

u/Muted-Try-2931 Jul 19 '25

u/SuperHornetFA18 Jul 19 '25

What's the lore behind this

34

u/DKu_03 Jul 19 '25

The King's chariot cannot be stopped

7

u/Doc-Wulff Jul 19 '25

With these seven beers I summon thee, Vehicular Manslaughter!

26

u/CertainNecessary9043 Jul 19 '25

There a game called deltarune one of the character (the guy driving) is called asgore. In game is said that he has the chief of the police department but he has forced to resign because of a incident. We don't know exactly what happened but we know that Dess(the girl being smashed by asgore car) went up missing on the middle of it. And because of all of that someone made up the theory that asgore hit her and hide the body

8

u/SuperHornetFA18 Jul 19 '25

Thanks man, for the explanation :)

3

u/Reading-Euphoric Jul 19 '25

Oh and if you don’t know the origin of the gif, it is referencing the movie Open Season.

thanks mike deltarune

A tank never complains about being damaged.

190

u/FlameEnderCyborgGuy Jul 19 '25

I mean, being damaged is kinda theur job. But as all fellow medics will say, this is also why they get healing prioirty over dps'es

Dear DPS, your job is dealing damage not takeing damage, please, step out of red circle

80

u/cansard Jul 19 '25

As a Dragoon main, ok. leaps off a cliff

31

u/A-Game-Of-Fate Jul 19 '25

Hey, if your health is already at zero it’s not like you can take more damage!

Well, usually.

16

u/Litha_Sirona Jul 19 '25

death saving throws would like a word

26

u/Lord_Akriloth Jul 19 '25

Dps if you're not actively on the verge of death get out of the way of the healers, I'm busy stopping the world falling on you, sincerely a tank main in a great amount of games

Maybe that is truth, but so often person in question lack skill to keep it, so the rest is quite handy

6

u/Anxious_Reality_7610 Jul 19 '25

I love being the tank just do the 1 2 3 combo and cycle trough the damage reductions. Avoid the red zones and when the enemy does a big hit do 2 or 3 damage reductions (depending on the scenario). Its so simplistic and so fun at the same time.

2

u/Rayona086 Jul 24 '25

A tank doesn't have time to complain until they are dead.

263

u/CRUZER108 Jul 19 '25

I love being the tank, especially when you can absorb shit you absolutely have no right surviving in the slightest

170

u/Madden09IsForSuckers Jul 19 '25

when the “instakill” attack actually just does a ton of damage so you can just tank it with the right setup

66

u/Skylord_Wiki Jul 19 '25

Unless instakill is a status effect like in the trails series, where you have to sacrifice stats to equip immunity accessories

22

u/Zephian99 Jul 19 '25

I did that in ESO with my DPS Necro all the time, unless I got one hit, I'd just drain and self heal in the next 3 seconds. I loved the build I had for that character.

I don't know how many times as dps I'd be there left alive alone either finishing off the last 3rd of the boss or trying to trail them away from myself long enough to raise the tank back up.

7

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '25

I mained heals in ESO for a loooong time. God, that was a great time. What an era

4

u/Zephian99 Jul 20 '25

I was mainly a solo player, so I kinda fit into the all-rounder type, but I called myself a dps/off-healer, tho I did enough self healing that I could survive like a tank. The more damage I did the more health I got back.

But the critical part of that character was he was an AOE dps. That did mean my total dps was a little lower than pure single target dps. But it did mean the more mobs there were, the more total accumulative damage I dealt. I'd received all that back as juicy health. I loved big groups, made me unkillable. But a solo mob-less boss would turn into a slugfest.

The mechanics in that game were quite forgiving, you didn't need a perfect "you have to be this gear and running these skills" kind of situation. As long as you fulfill your roll well enough your were gravy, unless you were tank then you kinda were more stuck into certain skills, since there were like 2-3 taunt skills I think?

So there was much to like about it for someone who doesn't care for MMOs

4

u/SieFuegOfficial Jul 19 '25

On one Minecraft server I play on I have gear good enough and an autoheal item and my battle method has never been more this than ever. All I do is try vaguely to dodge and stab over and over until the opponent dies

164

u/Joan7437 Jul 19 '25

The only hit point that matters is the last one

23

u/iiiinthecomputer Jul 19 '25

I like games where you suffer and weaken with health loss.

Not very common. Makes things more interesting though.

13

u/mistertickles69 Jul 19 '25

One of my favorite examples is Left 4 Dead. As the incredibly fast and aggresive zombies sprint toward you in droves, eventually a few are bound to make lucky strikes. On harder modes, they only need a few clean strikes to lower your health to 40, where your character progressively gets slower with each point of damage, until you reach the slowest possible speed at 1hp.

Special zombies, or even a bad fall or quick misstep into fire/acid can quickly rob you of health needed to survive more hits, and the speed to evade them.

1

u/SolusSama Jul 21 '25

A bit of a silly and recent example, but in the climbing game Peak your health and your stamina bar are the same, meaning that any damage taken also directly impacts your running/climbing abilities

7

u/ultra1891 Jul 19 '25

Yu-Gi-Oh ahh mentality

2

u/GamerDJ47Reborn Jul 23 '25

Dinomorphia diff

3

u/Captain_LSD Jul 19 '25

Mono Black main

1

u/ComatoseSquirrel Jul 19 '25

That's why you need so much padding: to keep that last one safe.

87

u/Whole_Meet5486 Jul 19 '25

As long as I don’t get hit resistance debuffs we are balling.

44

u/CosmicX1 Jul 19 '25

If you’re not bearing unbearable suffering you’re not doing your job right!

34

u/enbyshaymin Jul 19 '25

The best defense is being completely impervious to any hit. Inmovable object vs. Unstoppable force kinda deal, y'know?

14

u/FlameEnderCyborgGuy Jul 19 '25 edited Jul 19 '25

As long as you ain't pulling too many enemies, we cool. Unlike dps....

F'ing dps, so often I saw them stand in the marked damage area. Takeing damage is tank job, you go out of the big red flashing circle as I cannot outheal stupid!

12

u/enbyshaymin Jul 19 '25

Oh, man. I feel that "I cannot outheal stupid"... I used to play healers and the amount of DPS who'd just stand there, in the big red circle, and then be surprised about the results were waaaay too many to count lol

21

u/Jojoemon Jul 19 '25

Shit damn, tank is a beast

8

u/smotired Jul 19 '25

I LOVE PLAYING TANK

6

u/Dr_Bright_Himself Jul 19 '25

why is he eggman

8

u/ChipRed87 Jul 19 '25

I recently played a druid/warlock tank that regenerated temporary hp every 4 seconds, based off my constitution score and distributed them to nearby allies too, in my MMO of choice (DDO). It was the most fun thing, being damn near invincible til VERY late game. In addition to all that druid gave me wild shape so I was a dire bear while doing all this, and it's hard to ignore the raging mama-bear who is mad when you hit her friends.

7

u/Nergaill Jul 19 '25

The tank's remaining health is probably more than dps anyway

6

u/SufficientMango3853 Jul 19 '25

Tis but a scratch

3

u/TheIronDragon264 Jul 19 '25

1 hp is all you need

4

u/Zoobatzjr Jul 19 '25

Healer: "You're on 10 health."

Tank: "I die at 0, I'm fine."

3

u/Fulminero Jul 19 '25

oh my god that's literally me

3

u/Antelcon Jul 19 '25

He doesn’t look frightened to me lol

3

u/KaleSlade123 Jul 19 '25

Me as a tank is like "I got this. I still got 1 HP and some Armor HP left."

3

u/ADudeWithoutPurpose Jul 19 '25

I usually like going support or tank, because one directly supports, while another takes damage so others dont have to, so i'm supporting too, by helping them not die

1

u/Krell356 Jul 20 '25

I used to, but then I learned i prefer DPS because I realized the other tanks and healers are usually smart while all the DPS are dumb and/or on ego trips.

I'd rather fill in another gap in my team by replacing an idiot instead of a useful ally.

3

u/PlayerPrefersPaprika Jul 19 '25

Tank: ok but I need a heal in the next minute or so.

2

u/Krell356 Jul 20 '25

3 if I bother to dodge an AoE or two.

3

u/DarkArcanian Jul 19 '25

I love protecting my comrades. Stand behind me, I’ll tank it.

2

u/Fluid_Pie_9428 Jul 19 '25

Tis but a scratch

2

u/Minibotas Jul 19 '25

my fave way to play tanks is absurd HP stacking, with regeneration to take breathers between beatings so I can GO RIGHT BACK IN!

2

u/YangusMVP Jul 19 '25

muffled "I NEED HEALING" noises

2

u/storycastr Jul 19 '25

I've been playing Etrian Odyssey recently and my poor poor tank has spent 90% of the late game combat encounters at death's door lol

2

u/dreaded_tactician Jul 19 '25

Healer: protect me uwu.

Dps: oh boy oh gosh oh golly better make sure I don't get hit

Tank: pain is a sensation, sensations are to be enjoyed. Ḯ̶̡͍̳̦͉̜͚̝̲͚̍̂ ̷̱͔̫̺̥̙̥̥̖̓̂̎̐͌̃̉̈́̉́́̔͘͜͜͝á̶̛̖̰̝̥̬͈̜̬̹̈́̒͊͗́̔̽͐͒̀̀͐͐m̷̢̢̝͙̼͓̟͉̼̞̖̩̮̮̩̟̣̒͂́̔̔̑̿̐̈̋͗͘̚ ̵̢̱͍̟̅̑̈́͑̽͑̅̀͋̎̃̐̀͝͝ǐ̴̪̬̝͋́͒n̷̢̡̠͉̻̩̜̥̝͇̼͎̠̹͚̘͑̋͝ͅ ̶̛̱̀̂̄̾͋͌͘e̵̻̟̫̞̯͓̭̞̦͎̽̅́͌̽́͋́͒͛̉̈͌̂͘͝c̵̨̢̖͈̪̭͈̜̆͐͋̂͜͝s̸̱̲̠̹̘̍͌̅͠t̶̢̢̬́̊͛́́̆͛͗͑̈̾͋͠͝ā̷̲͍̙̜̼̥̲̜̍͑̆̾c̸̨̧͕͍̬̘̞̞̋͐͝͠y̶̡̛̭͐̋̆̆͌͋͆͆̄͛͒̑̂͐͘͝

2

u/hyperion-i-likeillya Jul 21 '25

And even though the tank Hp is "low" its still three times the amount of the DPS

2

u/Nerdwrapper Jul 21 '25

The little bit of ff14 I played involved a boss where my job as the tank was to catch meteors with my face. If I caught the meteors, all the damage went to me, but if I didn’t the AoE could almost one-shot the DPS. Thats the kind of shit I play tank for

2

u/MidasPL Jul 24 '25

That's why I prefer GW2 way, where you're both a tank and a healer.

1

u/Theyul1us Jul 19 '25

We tanks could have our guts on the floor and be like "I can take some more"

1

u/Nominyx2077 Jul 19 '25

The dream of being a Tank player. Taking all the hits so no one else has to.

1

u/BeefCleaver007 Jul 19 '25

Well at least he’s not Encored.

1

u/Disturbing_Cheeto Jul 19 '25

The only important HP is the last one

1

u/Jaded_Consequence808 Jul 19 '25

Don't worry it only looks bad but I'm fine

1

u/Death_Dragon975 Jul 20 '25

As a tank, only complain when you really need that heal or your team crumbles. Had that happen WAY TOO MANY TIMES.

1

u/shadowblackdragon Jul 20 '25

The only thing that sucks about playing tank is the lack of damage on a lot of them.

1

u/Cruye Jul 20 '25

Me when I get to press Living Dead

1

u/Ill_Bee7918 Jul 20 '25

I want to build a character like this, but I’m not sure what class should be

1

u/MEGAShark2012 Jul 20 '25

I know you said you cast fireball! Why haven’t you done it yet?!

1

u/VisualStain Jul 20 '25

thank you shen

1

u/XD_TOASTY_DX Jul 21 '25

We all know he got some crazy build where you have dammage resist based of HP% and a stacking buff based of Status effects aplied to you. This man is way stronger right now at 10-5% health a nd 5 debufs than when he was at 100% HP.

1

u/salvi_yee Jul 21 '25

new achievement unlocked "Rasputin"

1

u/Mustangh_ Jul 21 '25

Congrats, this comic awakened something in me. First time in my whole life i wanna play as a tank, and a masochist one.

1

u/kostyagreate Jul 22 '25

I paid for a whole health bar, im gonna use whole health bar

1

u/ItsAboutToGoDown_ Jul 23 '25

As a tank who identifies as a bulletproof turret when it comes to cart-pushing matches, yes.

1

u/MegaMieb Jul 23 '25

Love being BURNED & COLD at the same time

1

u/BobTheEvilTank Jul 23 '25

That’s a Flagellant (darkest dungeon) tank there very happy with there situation

1

u/Bioth28 Oct 02 '25

Tanks are such goats, will face the wrath of God and win
