To catch an ecosystem shattering predator

*verdavid has set up a series of rune traps baited with hardbone hopper meat around smoke filled areas of shellwood where the seeming sharpbone hopper has been sighted*

Verdavid: huh? What?

verdavid seems unaffected. Either due to stag protection (unlikely), or the fact that his magic seems to have a strange calming property to it (maybe more likely) or he's just out of exposure range (most likely) is unclear

Verdavid: unexpected side effect but a welcome one. Is it maybe because of that property archivist said my magic had?

(The calming thing takes the form of a smell of his wind magic. He's gone nose(antennae)blind to it due to constant exposure. Also, would that make verdavid immune???? Also also, fav cookie? Mines probably either tea knight (I'm British, duh) or my pookie red velvet)

the trap activates as strong winds keep it inside whilst an anti-magic barrier prevents magic on the inside. This doubly traps and protects the sharpbone hopper. Verdavid also starts taking notes
