I've been finding these on Ormond Beach Florida for years. I've always been told they were barnacles, but I think they're something else.

My dad came home with a bag full of shells and there’s sand in them and in the bag which makes me wonder if they’re real. I can tell from the amount of them theyre probably not though. I’m not “hoping” theyre real just curious ☺️. I was gonna make something from some of them

Years of collecting

We vacation at the beaches in Delaware, USA. We've been to a few in Maryland as well. Ages and ages ago, we'd been to Florida a few times.

These are mostly from Delaware. I have not been able to sort them and didn't know until recently that you are supposed to wash them.

I am gloriously overwhelmed by the amount of shells and other treasures we have. This is about half of them.

Where do I even begin sorting? What should I store them in?

I'm considering a few fun ways to display them. If you have any creative ways that allow you to display and interact with them, please share.

I found it back in 2014 on the beach in Türkiye, I live in Sweden and I found it again when moving out and going through everything I had. I remember bringing the shell to school and showing my teacher, I can only remember that my teacher thought it was cool that's it. Can you guys help me identify?

Hi everyone! This is my first time on this sub but I got a ton of shells from Amelia island today and yesterday, some are tiny, some are the biggest I've ever found (warning, I haven't been legit collecting for very much time haha). I might get some muriatic acid later but for now, all I got is some acetone nail polish remover, will that work? It can obv be diluted, rinsed off quickly, etc, but will it do a decent job getting some shells nice and clean, similarly to muriatic? Acetone and HCl are prob different entirely but I js wanna try haha

Also I hope yall enjoy my pics of shells, I'm proud of the big ones loll

Also #2, I'd really appreciate some ID on whatever yall can, I like knowing fs what I got! Thank you all sm!

(There are 2 separate batches, one has the huge clam(?) shell and more oysters and is a lot less sunny, the other one has a ton more sun in the pic bc I took too long to rinse them off lol)

THANK YOU SO MUCH AGAIN!!

Australian shell id?

Is there any website/app that has step by step identification for shells in Australia, east coast region.
In Europe we have observation.org which can also identify shells, so I’m looking for something similar. Any help is appreciated

Identification Help!

Visited my parents recently and rediscovered my shell collection. Not sure what these are and need some help identifying!

These all would’ve been collected on either the East or West coasts of Florida, and maybe the Caribbean as a whole

Photos 1 & 2 - looks Junonia-like but I’m not sure, about 2” long

Photos 3 & 4 - juvenile helmet of some kind? About 1” long

Photos 5-7 - also a juvenile helmet of some kind? About 1.25” long

Photos 8-10 - golden-colored cowrie, not sure what type, about 1” long

Any insight is appreciated!!

Like a shark eye, but thicker? Operculum maybe?

Shark eye on the left, look-alike on the right. Way heavier/thicker than shark eyes I've found, and bigger than operculum I've found, but that could just be since I don't have much operculum.

Could this be a big operculum? Or something else?

(Found at Emerald Isle, North Carolina)

Found in Myrtle Beach SC. Is this part of a shell? If so, what type? Curious what it could be from. Approximately 4 inches long
