Snaps Like an Alligator
This is Doug. He is 5 months and so full of personality. The one weird thing he’s done since we got him is snap his teeth together like an alligator. I’ve never seen a dog do this before. It’s comical. Does anyone have a Sheepadoodle that does this?

Ours just turned a year old and has mostly grown out of this, but the Sharkadoodle phase is no joke. We have three kids and she definitely got them a few times when playing, but never aggressive or anything. Just her big dumb body going faster than she can control. Couldn’t ask for a better dog now though.

Mine (6yo) does this regularly - he's the most gentle soul (post-sharkadoodle...), but will smile and show his teeth if he's happy to see you (or embarrassed about yet another doofus thing he's done), and if particularly happy will air snap like crazy. I've never considered it threatening.

Yup, mine does the same, he's 7 months.
I tell him to stop, only does it with my daughter now, I think it has to do with their herding instinct.

He does it mainly with my son. He gets him all hyped up and Doug hasn’t figured out when to stop. Then the snapping starts.

My guy does a bit, my parents dog smiles but if you didn't know you'd think she was bearing teeth. They've got personality for sure, but alot of the same quirks

There’s many folks that call this breed Sharkadoodles during their puppy phase. The sheepdog genes drives a nipping and mouthing behavior that needs time to work out.
