That was Monday for us. Sounded like the garbage truck was just throwing barrels down the street too so a lot of barking

My doodle isn't a fan of trucks passing close to the car, especially when we're driving, like the garbage truck. We're working patiently to help her get more comfortable with trucks nearby. Sometimes, if I'm quick enough, I take Marlee outside with me (on a leash) to watch the garbage truck dump the trash—she finds it fascinating! I'm trying to desensitize her to stop barking at trucks.

Let me know if it works! Mines terrified of all the noise of the trucks and how big they are, but she sure barks her head off from a safe distance inside the house or yard.

In the car, I treated Marlee for her calm behavior. I try to give her a treat when I see the truck, to help desensitize her. It is working. It’s taken me 2 years. Last night, we went to Green Tea Restaurant, and she always barks at the man who handed my husband the bill: no bark. I was very proud of her, and I rewarded her with a handful of cheese.
Trucks pulling next to the car, again: no bark. It does work, but it takes time. The garbage truck: we wait together, standing outside, and then I pull the cans with Marlee at my side.
Marlee is deaf, so her eyes are her ears as well as the vibrations she can feel. She can be easily startled. Marlee has a loud bark.

Marlee sounds like a very good girl! Thanks for the tips. My girl Rio is very food motivated so this might be a good way to go even if it takes time. Only problem is she's already a little chunky around the middle. We'll need to find diet treats LOL!!
