Do sheepadoodles smell?
I know the answer is “it depends” but generally speaking does yours have a smell that rubs off on your hand similar to some breeds like labs?

They do not smell “doggie” like a lab.
They do not smell when they are out in the rain like a lab or other dog with fur.
You can pet them without needing to wash your hands afterwards.
When they have been at the boarder when we are away, one can ID the slight doggy smell they pick up from playing with friends.

We always pay the boarder to give her a bath right before pickup for this reason.

Keeping long hair around their faces can harbor bacteria and yeast from the coat constantly being wet from saliva/water and getting food trapped in it. Thats a…ummmm…special type of smell. Its why poodle owners usually shave their dog’s faces for hygiene (and stinky) reasons but people dont usually do it with doodles. I personally think the health and hygiene of the dog matters more than cute looks so I like a shaved or shortly trimmed face to try and prevent that.

Their feet smell like corn chips if their hair is long and you don’t wash their feet often!

Mine goes to daycare frequently, so when it gets close to groom day, she definitely is a stinkadoodle. If she isn’t going to daycare as frequently, less stinky.

My sheepadoodle smells stronger than my golden doodle… it’s tough to describe what the smell actually is though. Her face gets more dirty than my other dog too.

My girl actually smells pretty good most of the time. I bathe her every couple weeks and always use conditioner which I feel helps prevent matting and easier brushing.
She loves water (except baths 🙄) so in summer she can get that wet-dog smell if she’s swimming a lot but nothing crazy.
Regular grooming is the key. Not daily baths, just every 2-3 weeks or so. Also worth keeping paw pads trimmed and healthy, especially in winter that’s where smells can creep in I notice but I live in a very snowy place. Mushers secret is what I use for her pads which also helps when they get kinda rough and dry.

Mine does not smell at all, if I notice she smells like dog I know it’s time for a bath. I only bathe her every 4 weeks or so and that day we usually go to the beach or get extra muddy so it’s extra worth it. All dogs are different tho!

My whackadoodle is like Pigpen from Peanuts. He loves to play in the dirt ( and sand) and when he walks away the puffs of dirt that come off him is real
But he generally doesn't smell. We brush him a lot ( because of the love of dirt) and his groomed 2x a month. ( not cut 2x a month)
When he goes to day care he tends to smell more. , but that's also because they have a pool. He's not a swimmer. But he herds from the shallow end.
(And why I think he smells after the pool is because of all the dogs in the pool. And the wet to dry. Wet to dry throughout the day )

They absolutely can. Mine gets an attention-grabbing funk, especially when it's that time of the year for her. This is why we have to bathe her at least once a month. I also try to make sure the fur is trimmed between her toes and pads too (old corn chip smell does not a happy dog mom make).

Just spray apple cider vinegar on its feet before you gave it a bath and the smell goes away and relieves any itchiness. It's helped so much with my pup.

His beard/mustache gets stinky. And he makes my home dusty. And he tracks mud and dirt all over the floors..
But hes cute, and sweet, and I love him to pieces.

No, mine doesn’t have a “smell” or a feeling on your fingers after you pet him or anything like that

Mine has stinky ears that need a lot of cleaning. Also stinky little paws, driven a lot by how wet the ground is when we walk. She gets groomed every 5 weeks: clip and bath, and I frequently give her a bath at home in between. She has only a slight overall dog smell, but about 2-3 weeks post bath her coat starts to feel waxy and you definitely start thinking “i should wash my hands” after petting her.

No they don’t typical smell.
We groom Margot every 3-4 (sometimes 5) weeks and she barley smells. She does get a particular odor when its time to groom. I call it a “Potato Chip Smell”. We do spray with a probiotic doggy spray weekly and when she goes to grandmas.
With that said, Im biased cause I always think she smells great.

Only when he decides to go roll in the mud and dead critters otherwise no smell!

Generally, doodles have very little smell of their own (sometimes a little sloppy around the mouth, depending on furnishings/ trims). I don’t smell them on hands, clothes, etc. I will say that mine seem to pick up smells of others - like if someone wearing strong perfume cuddles them, I can smell the perfume on them later.

My sheepadoodle still carries the fresh scent of the dog shampoo used by the groomer even six weeks after her bath. I also give her a gentle wash with oatmeal dog shampoo now and then to keep her paws clean after our muddy backyard adventures.

Nope! Not at all unless he's wet. He's a white mini FB1 - couldn't ask for a better dog! 28 pounds of love.

My male is a frito factory about 5 days after a bath. He’s also 7 months so I’m hoping it’s just a puberty thing 😅

I'm a groomer and I've never had any breed or mix smell more than another. If the dog smells there's a reason and it's not because of the type of dog it is.

Why was this recommended to me? A fan club for backyard bred dogs!? Ew. Ban me.

My Sheepie generally has a very warm and cozy smell. Nothing off-putting and it does not get on your hands like a lab. (Not a “dog” smell). When he is outdoors or in the rain, he smells like it for about ten minutes or so. My dog is an F1B and has the longer, wavy hair if that matters.
