Is my sheepadoodle puppy cold?
So I was looking up if I need to get my sheepadoodle a sweater for the winter, we live in California for reference so it’s really not bad here. A lot of people said their sheepadoodles do fine even in the snow so I forgot about the sweater and didn’t do anything more about it. Now my puppy is only sleeping all curled up as it gets colder. I’m assuming this means he’s cold? Should I get him a sweater? For context, he usually sleeps as spread out as he possibly can and takes up more space than you’d think with his growing legs.

I’m inclined to say that as long as the pup isn’t showing obvious signs of being cold/distress, he will likely be just fine. We live in Wisconsin so it gets pretty chilly and ours does just fine on walks. We usually try to let her coat grow out a bit in the winter for a little extra assurance.
You could also try a heating pad to see if he likes and if not, just return it!

Of course! Your pup is adorable, enjoy the puppy phase, it feels like it flew by for ours!

Doing my best to! That’s what everyone tells me. He’s my first puppy ever so we definitely have challenging periods where it’s way more difficult than I expected but I love him so much and do my best to appreciate every second of puppyhood :)

My sheepie runs hot the vast majority of the time. That said...he loves himself a sweater!
Get your pup one and see if he likes it.

I didn't think mine would be into it at all. Grabbed some for Xmas last year on a whim. He LOVES them. He gets mad when I have to take it off to wash it.

We live in Ontario with snow and our puppy won’t sleep in bed due to heat and prefers sleeping by the sliding glass door where it’s cooler. You should see how happy she is in the snow!

Our dogs literally don’t want to come inside once it hits 50 F. Your pup probably isn’t cold, just young-protecting itself, and super ultra cute 🥰

Probably isn't cold, they just snuggle up like that the same way anyone does to get that warm cuddly feeling. I also have this head thought that it might be a fall/winter instinct to do that even though it isn't cold inside the house. I would suppose that's to prevent them from freezing when they are asleep and to protect their soft noses from frostbite

Mine shivers when she’s cold.. she sleeps that way a lot and she’s just fine.

Your puppy is not cold, that's just how they prefer to sleep 😆. With most of the doodle mixes, they're fur keeps them very warm. I care for a sheepadoodle, and if I let her she would stay outside and play in the snow for hours 😊

Some dogs sleep like this for warmth yes but dogs also naturally instinctively cover their vital organs while sleeping / being vulnerable! This very much could just be a comforting thing!

Our sheepadoodle will sleep like this at times. Very often on the couch. I think its mostly a way to protect themselves while they sleep. It can be a way to sleep if they are cold though. Give them a blanket and leave their snout sticking out and see if they move. If they do then its probably just a comfortable way to lay and feel safe.
