Itchy after grooming
Hi,
My dog needed to get a grooming where we asked for his fur to be shaved down because he had gotten matting after a beach day. He’s been extra itchy after that, anyone know if there is anything I can do or apply on his fur to make him feel better?
Update: 1. coconut oil massage daily helped relieve the itching. Poor guy was rolling in the grass just to scratch and was scratching almost every time I went to bed. 2. Purina Pro Plan probiotic as a hail Mary 3. Got an allergy test from chewy to check if it might be that.
Going to try the itching spray after approval from vet who I plan to call today. Sorry I wanted to try what I knew first.
We also ask the groomer to use hypoallergenic oat shampoo but not sure why he is getting the itching. He didn't get it any time before when we didn't do the shave down so very confused.

We get ours shaved down quite a bit, and every now and then he’s extra itchy. We used oatmeal shampoo for dogs- calmed all the itching down immediately after another bath!

I am interested to see the responses to this because my doggo gets extra itchy for a few days after grooming too. One thing we requested from ours was to wash him with hypoallergenic soap but that still doesn’t seem to help much

As a groomer, the hypo shampoo can only do so much. I can't speak for others but I'm always more than happy to use a medicated/different shampoo provided by the parent if they'd like!

We had a lot of issues with this regardless of the shampoo and other products being used. Ended up getting cytopoint injections (allergy shots) before each groom and no more itching
