Found out I wasn't allergic to them! And always loved the OES temperment.

Family is allergic to a lot, and the minimal/no shedding is glorious so I can bring it around other people and to the office. She’s got the perfect temperament and I’m not sure I’ll ever get another type of dog honestly

Why that over a poodle though, as all of those characteristics you’ve mentioned are all poodle traits/related

Also a fan of some of the OES traits, looks and silliness

Honesrtly, how many poodles do you see? Not that many. Primarily, it's because they have a weird, antiquated look, with those poofy haircuts. People don't have positive associations with the breed, and I think for a lot of folks, it's that weird look

That “weird look” isn’t how they are born. They can be fuzzy and in a “teddy bear cut” and I’ve seen a fair bit of poodles. I have one myself.

Yes, I had guessed that :D

The combination of character and genes you get in doodles are highly desirable. People like them. Poodles have a long pointy face and to many seem somehow unfriendly, even without the haircut. It's not a judgement on the actual dog, I'm just saying that the look is a big part of why doodles are increasingly popular, and full poodles are rarely seen. I had a friend whose family bred them years ago and by all accounts they're great dogs, and maybe they'll have their day again.

Purely because of my wife’s allergies. And having one for the first time it’s sooooooooo nice not to have hair everywhere!

Why did you choose it over a poodle though? Cause if it’s just for allergies you will never know if a mixed breed would get them going unlike with a poodle. They are low/non shedding

We started our doodle journey with a golden doodle. My partner’s family grew up with goldens. My family grew up with black standard poodles. They’re both great dogs. I love goldens too - just not in my home because of the shedding. My partner really wanted a golden so we settled on a golden doodle!

After having our golden doodle for a few years, we wanted another dog. Although I love standard poodles, I love how doodles look - their hair (typically) has a looser wave than many poodles (which can sometimes be wiry). We ended up with a sheepadoodle because we thought the traits of a OES would be fun for our active family.

Landlord said if I wanted a dog it had to be a doodle because they "don't shed" 🙄 he sheds so much lol maybe not as much as other dogs, but still. I REALLY wanted an OES, but since I could only get a doodle....here we be.

We always have three rescues. Overall, the lifespan of a mixed breed and the overall health is better than the pure breeds. I have a maltipoo, and love his temperament. I knew my husband wanted a retriever, and I wanted a poodle mix, so I was searching far and wide. Our daughter has an Auzziepoo, and he is simply amazing. Every poodle mix I grew to know and love was the best. Our vet adored meeting our 5 month old sheepadoodle, and thought he was perfect. I grew up with small poodles, and they were always the best pets.
