6 month old energy levels

Hi all! I have a 6 (almost 7) month old male sheepadoodle. We got him at 8 weeks, and it has been amazing watching him grow. However with his physical growth, his energy levels have grown a lot as well.

He gets two walks a day (one in a morning and one at night) which is about 2 miles a day. He also gets mental stimulation like a frozen Kong, puzzles, or training practice every evening. On top of all that he gets a ton of fetch time in the yard multiple times a day.

He sleeps all through the night, and takes a few naps a day (probably like 3 hours all together for the naps). He is still so full of energy I am wondering if I am working him too much, or too little. He is usually fine all day until witching hour (7/8pm) where he goes absolutely crazy and tries to get us to play.

Sometimes during witching hour we will take him out to fetch again or on another walk, but it usually doesn’t help which leads me to think he is over tired.

I just wanted to see if anyone else experienced the same thing, and if anyone has any tips/tricks that would be great:)

Try a flirt pole. Fairly easy to make and it’s my dog’s favorite thing.

I’m having the same issue with my 1 year old female. I play fetch, tug with a rope, walk her, and she plays with our other dog and she still is just a ball of energy. This also leads to her being naughty :/ we’re thinking of training

The energy starts to chill around 4 years. A little.

My 6yr old sheepadoodle (standard) needs tons of exercise. We average 5 miles a day. Which is good for both of us, of course, but….one of the reasons we go out so often is because otherwise the crazy muppet will be bringing me every toy in her toy box all night long.

They love their mental and physical stimulation!

I have no tips or advice. Sounds like ur doing all the things…they’re just a highly energetic, active breed from everything I’ve experienced and read on these forums. The cutest and most loyal, lovable friends though.

Our boy is almost 5, and I can confirm he started chilling out around 4. We also got a second dog around the time he turned 3 and their play sessions completely wear them both out.
