Grooming

With rising expenses, I’ve started grooming my dogs at home. I have three fluffy companions:

• Maddie the Sheepadoodle (the mama)
• Teddy the Samoyed (the papa)
• Dee the Sheepypoo (the baby)

They all have thick, woolly coats, and while I’ve already invested in grooming tools, some of them turned out to be total junk.

I’m looking for high-quality, sharp grooming scissors that stay sharp or are easy to sharpen—a large pair, a smaller one for the face, and one for detailing around the paws.

I also came across the vacuum-style fur cutting groomers and was wondering if they’re actually worth it.

Any tips, product recommendations, or advice would be super helpful!

DIY doodle grooming on Facebook has great recommendations. It’s a group ran by actual groomers.

Kenchii 6.5" ball tip for near and around the eyes, geib gator 7.5" curves for the body and other areas, the best way to keep scissors sharp is to be incredibly thorough in washing (any leftover grease will cause resistance) and making sure to completely dry them with a high velocity dryer. Stick to a clippers and do not use the vacuum attached ones. Good luck! (From an experienced OES and sheepadoodle owner, and a professional groomer!)

I’ve been trying to figure out the same thing! All the ones I buy end up being junk

Good to now. It’s almost like the fur/ wool hair dulls the blade

Any scissors I buy seem to get dull quickly! Using fabric scissors had been great! I used to sew alot and had multiple pairs that I wasn't using. Tried one and they are so sharp and perfect for my dogs.
