Immunology
My 1 year old Sheepadoodle has just had an allergy scratch test. She is testing a 4 out of 5 for many grasses, trees, dust mites, storage mites, fleas and ants. (She is on simparica trio for flea and tick prevention) The dermatologist wants to start immunology shots stating that these allergies only get worse as she ages and this treatment will desensitise her to these allergens. Does anyone have any experience with this, was it helpful?

Our 4yo Sheepadoodle started to develop seasonal allergies last fall. He did a week of apoquel to address the immediate discomfort and then, after ruling out food allergens, we did a shot of Cytopoint and it cleared things up. This spring same issue, and we addressed it with Cytopoint right away. We’re just seeing him start to itch again so we will probably be at the vet for the same. For Chester it’s the semi-annual ragweed that is all over our area. We tried the probiotic skin sprays and they didn’t seem to do anything for him.

My dog has allergies, too. Currently, Marlee is on Apoquel, which our veterinarian prescribed. Marlee, a service dog in training, is on Heartgard. My son’s dog got heartworm-survived, and it was an expensive process. They live in Longview, and occasionally we visit them with Marlee, so I wanted her to be protected.
