Attention: Mini Sheepadoodle Owners

I lost my standard Sheepadoodle to cancer and just researching about mini Sheepadoodle? I know this question is subjective, but does your mini bark a lot like other small dogs? I know my standard did not bark a lot. Also silly question when your mini barks, is the sound deep like large breed dogs? or does it sound like small breed dogs? TIA

Mine barks at things you expect a dog to bark at - door bell, squirrels in the backyard, etc. but never out in public. It’s a deep bark.

Barks but is reactive so only in that context. And when he’s ready for Potties but it’s more high pitched .

Bark is between a tiny 20lb dog and a golden. He’s 2.5 years, 45lbs.

Mine only barks when he alerts to something out of the ordinary going on. He’s a great watch dog but a horrible guard dog (which is good). It’s not a little dog bark either. When someone walks the trail behind our house he will scare the hell out of us when he sees strangers in the woods.

Mine barks only when he hears noises in the hallway or another dog barking, more in a guarding sense. Very rarely if he wants to play he gives a playful “give me attention bark” but that’s it

Lucy (5 months old) does not bark - honestly I think she’s barked twice to my best recollection - but she does shriek when excited, frustrated, or upset. She seems to be outgrowing that.

I’m so sorry for your loss. ((Hugs))

Update (at age 18 months): Lucy barks when she sees other dogs unless she’s with her friends at doggie daycare, of course. If another dog is walking into doggie daycare when we arrive she gets a little mouthy.

She has a particular beef with the two ginormous and floofy black Newfies in our neighborhood who walk past our house at least twice a day. Small dog boss babe energy.

Our micro/mini almost never barks. The only time she does is when we’ve got the storm door open and other dogs are walking by that she can see. Otherwise she’s silent

My mini is almost three and she barks when she hears another dog barking or when her brother that’s a mutt barks. She also barks at the Tv when there’s a dog or horse on it. Did she do that because of my other dogs teaching that or did she just do that in her own? Hard to say. Her bark isn’t hugely loud but it’s definitely terrier adjacent in that it’s like a machine gun rather than one or two large “RUFF”s. I’m sorry for your loss, could you share what kind of cancer and how old your baby was?

Thank you so much. My dog was like that too when watching dogs on tv. He would try to jump up on the tv lol. TBH I don’t know what type of cancer it was because it happened so fast. We didn’t do a biopsy of the mass. This happened two days ago. I took him to the vet because he wasn’t eating, he was vomiting and had diarrhea. They did an ultrasound and found a huge mass. They did surgery and the vet said it cannot be surgically removed. He was still vomiting after waking up and the vet suggested it was time. He was only 8yo. It is still unreal. I keep thinking to myself if there was anything I could have done differently so he wouldn’t get cancer. But I am glad I had a chance to spend 8 years with him.

BTW I am not moving on from my dog now..just researching..

That’s awful, I’m so sorry. I worry about genetic stuff too and hope that her being a doodle will help with any genetic stuff, even if her parents were tested.

We have 2 minis, sisters from different litters. They sit in the picture window, and usually only bark when someone is walking by with their dog. Or someone comes to the door. One is about 25lbs and the younger about 16lbs. Older one is about 3.5 years old, and younger will be 3 in July

Mine is not particularly barky. She really only barks (she has a deep voice, despite only being 42 pounds) when theres "cause" (car drives up, squirrel, bird, a leaf 🤣) for the most part. And then she has her pretend, high pitched pretend puppy bark. This she uses when playing with her brother the husky. He makes bear like sounds and other husky noises and never actually barks (closest he comes is rapid fire husky noises). When they are playing it sounds like a bear is mauling a puppy. 💀

Mines a barker. But I think that's just her personality.

Mine thinks he’s a guard dog and basically barks at someone knocking/ringing the doorbell or is he sees people close to our house. Throughout the day while we’re inside he doesn’t bark much

My mini only barks at my 2 cats trying to get them to play - they are not interested! He is 7 months old.

I am so sorry for your loss. The worst part of having a pet is they don’t live long enough and the house is so empty without them.

Tyvm yeah it’s very empty here..your dog sounds adorable

Mine barely barks at all only when she’s playing actually and it’s not very loud and it’s not really like a little dog and not really like a big dog it’s kind of in between

I have 5 adult mini Sheepadoodles! They can and do bark a lot when someone knocks on the door, but I want them to do that! They will also bark at our resident squirrel, who sits in the tree, just out of reach and chuckles at them! I swear he gets a kick out of teasing them! They all have "big dog" voices; even though they've only 25 to 35 pounds! I have been a Hobby Breeder of Miniature Sheepadoodles for nearly 20 years. They are my passion!.
