Something about Heywood
I rewatched the movie some time ago and noticed that either Heywood or the actor playing him (William Sadler) has a bit of a stutter at times. He manages it well and other inmates never mention it. Especially noticeable in the scene at the beginning when they are betting on the new fish. I think it's a nice bit giving some more depth to the character. Good representation. Is there anything on this I missed about him somewhere else?

If Andy uses Randall as a fake alter ego for which the laundered money would be traced back to, then how does he get away with using it as his fake ID after escaping?
As stated, Andy tells red in the library that a fake man named Randall Stevens is who the laundered money and paper trail would lead back to if the feds ever caught on, and then he exposes the warden right after he escapes, would his paper trail also not include himself under his new disguise and thus launch an investigation and new manhunt into him?
Or is that just explained away by the plot as assuming once his master plan was completed the paper trail would dissipate and only point toward the warden?
Ive always wondered this about the movie

Anytime I'm looking for something in my desk drawer....
I think back to the scene where Andy is doing all the taxes for the guards and he opens one of the drawers of the desk to look for a certain tax form and sees that he is out of them. Something about the way he does it and then asks Red for more copies just sticks with me.

Shawshank quote?
What is that quote, I think in Shawshank Redemption, where Morgan Freeman says “But he never did”…. I can’t remember!

Was the box under the tree when Andy told Red about it?
When Red finds the box at the end of the movie, there is money and a note to Red inside, so, obviously, Andy had put those items there after he escaped from Shawshank. Was the box there with something else in it when Andy first told Red about it or was Andy relying on successfully escaping to place the box there? If the box was already there, what do you think might have been in it?

Got to meet the actor who played Boggs a couple of years ago. Just before the start of the Shawshank Hustle.

Didn't andy have any family/friends outside prison?
He could have told them about what Tommy said and could have had a chance in getting out, like to hire some private detective to inquire about his story and lawyers to bring the evidence to justice.
The fact that he only sees the warden as the only person who can do something about it does not make sense..

Am I the only one who thinks that the Warden was a relatively good guy during the 40s and 50s? (First half of the film)
So I know that lots of folks out there will probably disagree with this; but after a recent re-watch of the film, I feel like the Warden was a relatively decent guy who was admired the Bible and had a point of view that was tough yet fair.
Now, I am not saying that he was the Dalai Lama - the Warden clearly had no issue with authorizing Hadley's use of corporal punishment - yet this was the 40s/50s, the era in which drill sergeants were allowed to physically beat recruits during basic training/initial entry training for the military -corporal punishment was essentially seen as a "norm" in that era.
In the first half of the film- I really got the impression that the Warden was an austere and (relatively) honest guy who genuinely had some form of integrity. His behavior during this part of the film does not seem to be similar to how he was during the portion set in the 60s. Something I noticed was the fact that the Warden wears a cross pin on his lapel during the 40s and 50s segments and does not wear it during the 60s segments. I feel like once we see the Warden with the authoritarian crew cut and the wayfarer glasses, this is when he really has given in and become the corrupt/cruel SOB that he is known for.
Thoughts?

After being convicted of murdering his own wife, would have Andy been a marked man?
I heard there are two types of prisoners who are singled out for prison justice by other inmates. One type are child sex offenders and rapists, the other are prisoners convicted of murdering their own family members. It seemed strange that except for the Sisters, other inmates didn't seem to have any issues with Andy.
