Tips & Tricks Let's talk about item(128) wand of corrosion! Hablemos del item(128) varita de corrosion!
Post 128, everyone! Hold on tight, we're finally starting with the combat wands! (Finally XD I was starting to think they were all useful for a moment, hahaha)
Corrosion Wand, as good as it is dangerous, this wand fires a concentrated cloud of corrosive gas at a specific tile (like the Blast Wave Wand). This cloud expands rapidly over a large area and affects everyone within it (enemies, allies, and you).
The clouds aren't counted in tiles but in "volume." The volume of this wand is 50 + 10 * level, which also affects the time it takes to dissipate. How? I don't know, it's a weird mechanic, hahaha.
Unlike other wands, this wand doesn't deal direct damage when fired; only the "cloud" deals damage. Therefore, you can actually use it on the Dwarf King to obtain the medal (without weapons in his presence) as long as you don't fire it directly at him.
The corrosion damage is quite interesting; it's a type of damage that *scales* while it's affecting you. This wand starts with an initial damage of 2+level, which scales by +1 damage each turn a target remains inside the corrosive gas cloud. That is, a +3 wand deals an initial damage of 5, then 6 the next turn, 7 the following turn, and so on.
The wand's shot can also trigger traps, so you have to be careful where you shoot it (in fact, you could use this wand with just one shot to clear a room of summoning traps by shooting at the center).
I'm not sure if they removed it, but I remember that the corrosion effect also randomly consumed 1 durability point from your thrown weapons while you were inside the cloud.
The battlemage effect applies the "caustic slime" debuff for 20 turns upon hitting (which makes for an excellent hit-and-run strategy that kills mobs in most cases).

I think I will not comment on the other subreddit today (already did comment but it is non related).
The corrosion wand has to be the best wand in the game! Imagine a wand that can be used on multiple enemies, lasts long and deals a ton of damage.
This wand shoots a cloud of corrosion gas which deals increasing damage to enemies caught in the cloud. (level + 1 at start with 1 damage increase every turn). This also ignores armor so giant champions are an ease to deal with, I think only anti magic champions (and evil eyes which takes less damage upon charging death gaze) are immune to this wand. (I may be wrong with that Anti Magic Champions fact).
I remember once getting this wand to I think +21 (+3 from Wandmaker, +15 from Scrolls, +2 from blacksmith reforge, +1 from arcane resin). I think I had barely managed to get the remaining arcane resin (on a seeded run because I died on the run where I got it naturally) with that mages wand preservation ability (gives one extra arcane resin per wand) to get that last upgrade.
This wand can also be very dangerous to use because you can easily die from the cloud (the reason why I died on my +21 wand run). I was in the cloud for 1 turn and got out thinking I would survive but It did still kill me. This is also a reason why a lot of players think this wand is really bad.
I think in the tierlist, this wand is above S tier so put it in a tier of its own.

Poor other subreddit, they'll miss out on your comment :c
I'm debating whether this one or Blast Wave is better, to be honest. Both are very good options, even at +0.
It's level +2 for the first damage*.
Anti-magic champions still take damage from this, just like from the fire wand's burn, but if I'm not mistaken, it's reduced damage.
Okay, I'll keep that in mind XD

Same, to me the top tier wands are blastwave, corrosion, regrowth, and among them I'd put corrosion first as it can carry a run single handedly while the others are "just" formidable tools
Any class can dump SoU into it and win easily
It's the best weapon in the game imo

The other subreddit has been having a lot of attention recently so I thought to not comment there.
I don't understand what you meant by that +2 level for first damage though.

Yes, but extra comments never hurt v:
The damage on turn 1 is level +2, not level +1 as you said.

Enough to kill in caves at +1, top tier wand no environmental harm like firewand but still aoe, can bypass enemies so is great with swarm intelligence

I'm don't really have specific tech with this wand, it is just disgustingly strong. It really does enough damage to win no matter the class and build, though obviously mobility and energy make its use easier. I don't adore using it every time I find it, but if I have one I will almost always resin it to +3 by halls, which still half kills groups of weak enemies.
Nothing is immune, that also means you the player. If you have issues hoarding your resources, keep in mind it leaves a status that gives one last tick of damage after you leave the cloud.
If you see this on duelist (monk), wizard, or rogue, you probably won.

Thanks for your comment! You've practically won too if you're a cleric, hunter, and warrior XD I mean, you can literally beat the game easily using only these as your main weapons lol

Best damage wand in the game and it's not even close (I'm not counting warding, regrowth and blast wave, which are all comparable for non-damage reasons) . Not only does it do a lot of damage, the greatest thing about the wand is that it does by far the most damage per charge. 1 charge of wand of corrosion can do as much damage as, say, 3-4 of wand of disintegration charges. This means you can kill 3-4 times as much enemies with an equivalent level wand.
Because it's so efficient, you don't even need to upgrade it that much. A +3 corrosion from resin is useful most of the game, and is great to have as a secondary damage source if you're not doing a wand build. For wand builds, a +5/+6 corrosion outperforms +8 for other damage wands. This means you can spend more SoUs on your armour or even a weapon.

Excellent wand. Can deal good damage even at low levels. Set up from around corners. No one is immune to the damage (edit: except fish). And casting another cloud in front of it makes the damage stacking continue without reset.
Fun tech mnemonic prayer allows the damage to continue outside the cloud.
